see, now this completely ignores Funk's entire career. 1) Funk was always best as a heel, just look at his program with Flair leading into the "I quit" match from 89. Funk was also a monster heel with his two year run as the NWA champ and drew a lot of big gates

I gave a couple dusty quotes, and IMO its an amazing pick. He was able to get heat as both a face and heel, and he is one of hte guys that I referred to that popped big houses on a consistent basis when we were talking about Bruno. For a long time Dusty WAS florida championship wrestling when Florida Championship Wrestling was probably the top promotion in the US and Canada at teh time. He's a prime example of a guy who wasn't a great worker, but overcame his own working limitations with being able to have the crowd around his little finger. He also worked matches around his limitations and was able to pull off solid matches on a decent basis

Strongly considered Edge with my pick as he's one of my raves of all time but I decided Edge and HHH as my top 2 would be boring, very nice pick Rat.

They'd work together great... they'd both be 10-time world champs by year 3! :P

I thought Andre wasn't eligible for this for some reason...I would have had him at #5 or 6 overall maybe higher. This guy is second most well known/over all time to hogan.

Since you're now the 3rd person to say that Vader went too early without providing one single ounce of reasoning.....

Ok, fine. I'm fully willing to accept that Vader was a reach. But can someone at least explain why to me? I mean, he is one of only 8 american wrestlers to ever win Wrestling Observers wrestler of the year. From 1984-1994 the only wrestlers to win PWI's wrestler of the year were Hogan, Sting, Flair, and Vader. He is a 3 time WCW Champ and also held the world title in both of Japan's biggest federations. Hes widely thought of as the most skilled big man of all time.

Like I said, since 3 of you have now said this, I'm definitely willing to accept that maybe I reached. But can someone explain why it was a reach? Looking at his credentials, I'm just not seeing it.

I love Vader and mark out for him. His WWE reign killed his career. He dominated a terrible WCW. He lost his World title to Ron Simmons. Need I say more?

I think you could have had Vader in round three, Assani. I don't think he hurts your ability to build, though.

Has anyone PMed Noze?

the only reason Ron Simmons got the title was because Bill Watts thought having the first african-american champ would do business, except that watts forgot that Simmons wasn't 1)over at all and 2) is a very limited worker. Simmons was good on the mic, but that was during Watts' booking, and there was a lot of wrong with WCW when Watts was booking.

A defense for Vader is more that he's won the AJPW triple crown and won the IWGP title, there aren't too many wrestlers who've done that

His misuse in the WWE doesn't erase the awesomeness that he is though.

I think you missed the part where Assani said he won it in an era where Hogan, Sting, and Flair dominated the award. There's a HUGE difference between that and what you're saying.

The last two guys, in particular, winning it just proves that the current era of wrestling is weak, especially in terms of stars.

I just read that Watts wanted Flair to cut his hair, wear an earring and go by the name Spartacus. No wonder Flair wanted out of there.

Then, if Assani really wanted him, it's not a terrible pick at all.
