All I could turn up is at 7:45 here, not sure if there's a better version out there. LOL @ Elizabeth's acting, her crying/whimper sounds like...er, something else. Somebody should have just told her to lay there and pretend like she was unconscious or something.

Macho Man and Foley are great picks.

And the mid 90's bias is pretty obviously a part of the majority of us being born between 1980 and 1989. I don't see how you can dispute that.
I definitely dispute this. It was the most popular time in wrestling history by a fairly big margin. Those of us born in the early 80s(like me) were into wrestling way before this era, and we still gave wrestling a chance way after this era. We are picking a lot of guys from that era because that era was the best in our opinions.

Regardless, please explain to me why you don't think Mick Foley was a good pick. He was great at pretty much everything. Got great pops when on the mic, involved in a ton of great matches, willing to put others over, multiple characters, good as a heel and a face, hell he even is a best selling author. Instead of just making ridiculous analogies to Derek Jeter, explain why hes a bad pick. I really can't find any reason to knock him, and I'm trying to be open minded.

like i said before. i could have picked any one that is on my list to pick, and i would have gotten trashed for it.

any diehard wrestling fans would agree with me though. 80's sucked mostly. not enough real action in ring, which is what i look for in my wrestling. this will be obv when i pick again.

i really hope you dont expect me to me worried about being trashed. its not the first time, and it wont be the last.

I like 80s style wrestling so to each his own I guess. I'm a huge sucker for tag wrestling too which was never better than it was in the 80s (ladder matches be damned).

You may have been into wrestling before the mid 90's, but you didn't grow up watching Hogan, Savage, etc. live (neither did I for that matter). It's easy to overrate what you watched in your preteen years. The mid/late 90's were great, obv, but the period being the "most popular ever by a wide margin" (and I'd argue that it wasn't significantly bigger relatively to the peak of Hogan) doesn't necessarily make the talent the causation of it.

Anyway, as for Foley, he's awesome. I'm not denying that. But there are definitely a bunch of guys (Macho Man being one) that are better at that spot. My criticism of the pick isn't really a criticism of Foley. It's just that there are better guys to take there, imo of course.

LOL "any diehard wrestling fans". I don't follow anymore, but I was "diehard" for a long time. Again, I understand why you took Punk and why you like him and whatever, but it's an awful pick considering the criteria of the draft, his availability, etc.

I mean, I don't fault the guy for taking Punk. It's his fed and maybe he has a blueprint that he wants to follow.

This was meant to spur debate, amirite?

CM Punk could have been had as an undrafted free agent.

I'm not sure this is true.

People judge popularity based on criteria like TV ratings for a national promotion like the WWF or WCW.

However, local wrestling shows in the 70s and 80s used to get huge ratings. In 1982 & 1983, the AWA was doing incredible business in the midwest, World Class Championship Wrestling was growing into a monster in Texas, and other promoitions had hugely successful angles that were selling out constantly. If you add all that up, it might top mid-80s or late-90s popularity.

I propose (as someone on the outside watching in) a panel of 5-10 judges should be appointed, and grade each federation. Let each fed write a huge write up with their plan, and then the judges judge.

I propose I am a judge
