Pogacar and Roglic were favourites by a pretty big margin, I think Pogacar was even #1 in betting odds slightly ahead of Roglic.

Well I don't know the odds pre-tour but he can't have been far from favorites with a big gap in odds between him & roglic and the rest (carapaz, porte, thomas, etc..)

Roglic just happened to get injured

Slovenia is located in the alps, with some nice climbs and easy access to Austrian/Italy major climbs. It is not exactly a cycling nation, though the numbers of (well-known) pros has increased in the last few years.

Pogacar does bring a lot of panache to the race, it is not usual to see the favorite attack 30kms from the finish.

He might just hold back even though I think he is clearly capable of tracking down the leaders just so it doesn't shine too much suspicious light on his performance

Ok, I don't really pay attention obv and I've just read a lot of stuff from people who seemed surprised he's in this position. Guess I should've checked the odds instead.

Pogacar looks super effortless too.

WvA actually doing decent maintaining the gap with the favorites of the human kind (only 1min or so away from the lutsenko, mas, etc..)

Shame he wasted energy he didn't have to at beginning of the stage

Pogacar looked slightly less composed the last 1km of that last climb but all the rest was just a display of pure power and perfect tempo. Everyone else is racing for 2nd.
