Bardet attack and Vuillermoz (AG2R) just pulls froome back in the main group rather than stepping away. good job good effort

Froome just looks so strong. Not stressed in the slightest pulling that back.

not as strong as landa. he could have won the whole tour if he wanted to/they'd let him

he dropped off, pulled froome back in, then immediately shot to the front.

Landa on a different team would have been interesting. Hows his time trialing? One other thing about Froome is we don't know how much he has in the tank. That stage where he lost yellow suggests not that much this year.

Landa was 56 seconds behind Froome in the opening TT. Bardet, Aru and Martin all lost ~40 seconds, Uran 50.

Every rider ought to wear a helmet cam. Imagine watching the descents from the rider's point of view.

Last week preview:

Stage 16: pretty much a sprint. Expect another Kittel victory.

Stage 17: Two HC climbs, but finishes on a descent. Probably not much GC action.

Stage 18: The last mountaintop finish of Le Tour. Expect lots of fireworks

Stage 19: Flattish stage. 3 cat 3 climbs, so possibly not in Kittel's wheelhouse. But you never know.

Stage 20: TT. Froome should lock up the tour here.

Stage 21: Paris. Kittel is the lockiest of locks here.

I think they'll be going hard on stage 17. 35km climbing to a HC, then only 20ish downhill to the finish. Seems big enough for timegaps

Yeah I think they'll be going hard because they have to. Only 2 more chances to gain time on Froome, waiting for the Izoard and hoping to gain 2 minutes on a single climb doesn't seem like the best idea.

Not so sure about stage 16 being an easy flat sprinter stage.

Also lots of portions with 3/4 favorable wind so "bordures" (that's the French word, how do anglo saxons call it?) are very possible

Yeah, Kittel already 1 minute back and they haven't hit the cat 4 yet. Commentators talking about how Matthews still has a really good shot at winning the green jersey.

Breakaways? There might be big crosswinds later apparently.

It's more specific:it's a description of the configuration of a group of riders when there's big crosswinds that increase the chance of a break happening at some point in the group. The direct translation would be "borders".

Edit: Slow poney. Thanks Cina

I assume this means that Sagan would have likely won the green jersey had he not get himself booted out? He was ahead of Matthews at the time by a fair bit wasn't he? I'm still pissed about that battle not happening!

Yeah, Sagan would have gotten a lot of points today, the stage Matthews won, and 19.

Kittel is now 5 minutes back. The podcast Cosmo Catalano does predicted a Kittel win on this stage, which is where I based my prediction. So much for that.

Coasted it. As usual. Despite the changes. Still salty about that decision. A real disgrace.

In fairness there are sprinters in the lead peloton. The wind was a factor and you can't predict general tiredness etc.
