Sure, but I'm not convinced he would have been in contention during that difficult final week without the penalty.

Re: Pro Cycling 2015 thread: Le Tour, Giro, Vuelta, etc.
I think he followed his teammate to long there. Once he ditched him he opened the gap to almost a minute on Froome.

Quintana might actually do it (but probably won't)
The announcer keeps talking about a 10 second bonus. I thought those ended at the end of week 1?

Great stage. Can't forget quintana got trapped by the wind in stage 2 (?) i think and lost a minute there. Also adamant he should have attacked earlier yesterday. Oh well. Gg froome

Yeah, he lost 1.28 in stage 2, got caught in the wind/behind a crash or something like that. Bad positioning probably cost him the tour.

Valverde cares only about Valverde. He'd have taken Quintana out to stay on the podium.

Re: Pro Cycling 2015 thread: Le Tour, Giro, Vuelta, etc.
To be honest Nairo will always be chasing when looking to win a GT. This time it was the winds, could've been cobbles or a TT. Don't think there was much doubt who was the strongest over three weeks. Looked to me Froome was just playing it safe today and not really getting into any sort of a race on the last climb. He had the advantage and only way he was going to lose was by completely cracking. Now he rode a steady pace for the last climb with team mates and ends up winning the yellow and polka dots. Pretty good day for him.
Quintana should give Valverde the 2nd. Would suit him much better. Funny enough anyway that after all these years he finally found his way to the podium. After last year really never would've thought I'd see the day.
