Just realized there's hardly any time trailing in this tour. Figured there would be a TT in the final week. Some tours have nearly 100k of individual TT by this only has 14.

That's why people thought Quintana was a serious threat for yellow this year. While both Froome and Contador are excellent time trialists, Quintana isn't. So a course with little time trialing should be good for him.

They should have another individual TT at the Alpe d'Huez one year. that was ****ing epic

Did anyone without Eurosport coverage get to see Sagan's descent? On Eurosport they split screened and claimed it was their exclusive coverage. If that's true it's absolute lol TV coverage, that's pathetic. Why do they have to show a meaningless GC ride on a not very difficult climb instead of one of the most entertaining descents I've ever seen, he is an absolute nut job. Cyclinghub.tv have the Eurosport feed if anyone wants to see it.

Good to hear, it was a very entertaining final 15km with the break. Not sure if others noticed but one of the corners Sagan almost overcooked it on near the end of the descent was the spot that Beloki decked it in 2003. The road quality was noticeably better this time.

On true mountain stages I agree with you but not on days like yesterday.

I found it super frustrating on stage 6 when the sprint is opening up and the cameras are focused on Martin, Froome and Nibali bouncing off each other to just get the same finishing time anyway. Liggett didn't even have a clue (not that he does normally) about who attacked to win the stage.

Nice to have the option on eurosport player to pick which moto camera to watch. Too bad it lags a bit behind but having the option to choose which group to watch is and the ability to skip the endless commercials early on the stage is a nice bonus.

What does gear transmission mean?

Not sure if it is the correct word but it means the big front chainring has 52 teeths and the small one 38. btw the 28 in the back surprised me a bit, but than again it is froome who looks like someone who really likes the small gears. Always sitting on his bike never getting up to attack. Always doing his rhytmen.

I've heard that, ever since the pro peloton switched to 11 speed rear cassettes, a largest sprocket size of 28 is pretty common. In the mountains, some teams even switch to 32. 11 as the smallest size is super standard. The big news on Sunday was that Greipel's bike had a malfunction and could only go to the second smallest cog (12 tooth).

52/38 front sprockets aren't standard for consumers (they are usually 53/39 or 50/34), but the pro teams have mechanics who take apart the bike every stage anyway and will install non-standard sizes.

As for the rear cassette, an off-the-shelf 11 speed cassette from 11-28 has the following number of teeth: 11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23-25-28 (source: http://www.bike24.com/p259218.html)

Of course, the pros can switch the sprockets to any size they want.

52/38 is considered a mid compact crankset. A lot of companies are selling bikes with these specs nowadays specialized for one.

Just bought my wife a new Liv (Giant) which is the first bike we have had with 11 speed, was surprised to see the 28 in the cassette as I expected it to just be a tighter range 12-25 and have never researched what is standard.

Im not even sure if they could make a 10 tooth cog without going to a smaller freehub.

Although these numbers seem to have cut the climb a little short. The whole climb is 15.3 km. However it doesn't matter much as I got 6.10 W/kg when I calculated it with the whole 15.3 km.
