Not sure why I'm even responding to this but FSU is #5 in 247 team talent composite rankings and that's even including a weaker than normal class b/c of the transition to Taggart. Neither USF nor UCF are even in the top 50. There's no way in hell they're better within a decade barring some type of major sanctions at FSU. Even then FSU will still be better as long as it's not a death penalty. College kids dgaf about how great the city they're living in is, football facilities, the campus, and school/conference tradition are way more important.

Georgia Southern's is $64 million. UCF's is $155 million.


Endowments are a reasonable proxy for how rich alumni are and how much they feel connected to the school, and thus are also a reasonable proxy for how much money the ath department has.

Obviously, this varies by school (Stanford's athletic department does not have 20x more money than UGA's), but the point is to illustrate that the scale differences we are talking about are ****ing enormous.

Gus Malzahn's buyout is almost as large as Georgia Southern's entire freaking endowment for their entire freaking university.

The "big boys" are playing on a totally different monetary scale than the little brothers.

Purdue didn't exactly blow it against Northwestern. They never led actually, but didn't complete the comeback in part due to a horrible (but legitimate) personal foul penalty that wiped out a chance to get the ball back late.

Eastern Michigan was clearly an aberration. But a loss is a loss.
