Shaq used to hop all over the damn place and they never called it. The league is a joke. Just don't even require dribbling if they're going to blur the lines for the superstars.

Shaq was 7'1" 325. LETS MAKE HIM EVEN MORE UNSTOPPABLE. lol

Next they should start calling fouls on John Stockton.

Agree with Dids. You at least need some sort of replay/challenge system in the playoffs. Hell just give each coach one challenge they can use in the last 3 minutes of each half.

Something to at least protect against phantom calls in a one score game with little time remaining.

Flip replay principles upside down. Who gives a **** if a guy's foot was quarter-inch in or out of bounds, which guy touched the ball a hundredth of a second later than the other? Just chalk that **** up to luck unrelated to player skill and move on.

Use replay to examine the player interactions. Look at the pass interference and charge/block calls from 72 angles. If there are going to be arbitrary inflection points that we examine and ponder before allowing the action to continue, I'd rather it be related to the players' skills and styles.

Yes. Your lame attempt to make my post into some kind of MT2R-college(white players)-has-better-fundamentals crusade didn't work. I just think the sport would be better without the rigging and with actually calling the rules as they are spelled out.

I suggest that one random game per season should be played backwards

No- I was making fun of your post because you were complaining about a guy who has been retired for years.

Oh so you accidentally chose one of the two white guys (Jeff Hornacek being the other) that played basketball in the '90s? Sure. I mentioned Shaq b/c that was the last time I watched basketball was in like the '90s. But a ten second YouTube search last night after my post also yielded a "His Travelness, LeBron James" video so I'm pretty sure letting stars **** on the rules is still rampant - just like the rigging.

Basketball is really fun to play, though.

I chose an old hall of fame player who historically fouled a lot and didn't get called for it.

But is it a problem. Ignore your sense of fairness (I've got a pathological one myself), the product on the court is probably more entertaining by allowing people to get away with traveling and enabling superstars than it is if we followed all the rules all the time. I'm just not sure dogmatic enforcement of the rules actually improves the sport. (and given other complaints in this thread, could very well make it worse)

Yes Dids, but the "improves the sport" argument is only valid while the players are active. Now that Shaq is retired it's time for the refs to stop letting him get away with murder.

I know there was some discussion within pro tennis a while back of moving the service line back a little bit behind the baseline, to cut down on the boring ace-fests of the men's game. Seems like a more valid idea than eliminating the 2nd serve altogether.

Also I am prob in the minority but I hate in the NFL how a defensive player can just grab the ball in a pileup and yank it from the offensive player's hands as the play is just about to be blown dead. That's not great defence or an awesome hit forcing a fumble... it's more like a mugger stealing a purse from an old lady.

I too agree that the NBA should forcibly remove Shaq from TNT's broadcast.

If forward progress is stopped then it should be whistled dead. A pileup suggests forward progress is stopped. The whistles are supposed to be slow, but the whistle doesn't kill the play. The play kills the play. Still, this is a borderline area and is really ball carrier dependent. If his legs are still driving and he's known for breaking free, that ball is going to be live longer and he needs to protect it from being stripped.

One day I was watching baseball with my 11 year old he says "Dad. is major league baseball fixed?" I say "What do you mean by fixed?" He says "Do they plan ahead who's gonna win like the WWE and the NBA?" Funny.

cars that are down 10 laps or more or any car that's lost a cylinder should get auto parked by nascar. This ride around till you blow up and or ride around with a total crap car in the way is ridiculous. Not really even getting a point out of it most of the time.

then again nascar would just throw out a "debris" caution anyway to bunch up the field so w/e I guess.

There should be loser elimination at varying intervals. So maybe halfway through the race, the last 10 cars are eliminated and removed from the track. 60% through remove another 5, 70% another 5, 80% another 5, 90% another 5. Finally we're left with the last 10-15 cars racing to the finish.

Sponsors want their cars out there as long as possible, even if their car is 50 laps behind the leader.

Seems ideal marketing potential for Immodium imo.

"Car 72 grinding to a halt, much like the brand on the hood will do to your colon."

My impression is that there's all kinds of bizzare financial incentives in NASCAR that make for some counterintuitive stuff when it comes to competition.

I'm not sure what the problem you're trying to solve is, but my no-nothing impression is that there's a few hobo-assed teams out there that can't really be competitive and basically just get in the way. Maybe the answer is just to change things such that only teams actually trying to win are on the track.

They could eliminate cars more than two laps behind the lead car. There would be fewer crashes.

Baseball needs to get rid of the shift. Your entire life you learn to hit it in the hole. They need to make it illegal defense or something. Guy rips it between the 1B and 2B, oh there's the SS in RF to throw him out at first.
