It was 30-30 at the time. They said it was a 36 yard FG, with the goal posts AT the goal line, right? So, they would have to kick it 56 yards to get it out of the end zone. But since punters line up further away than field goal kickers, it would have been closer to 65 yards to kick?

Is it yards or meters in that game?

They use yards, and the posts are on the line. I didn't realize it was so far out.

I have seen teams line up for a field goal from the 4 needing the single. I guess because of less variance on the shorter snap?

The "bubble" is horrible, coming from someone who has watched CFL in Canada for years. Quite often it results in penalities and is annoying to watch.

3 points > 1 point

36 yard FG shouldn't be no thang

and even missing you should get 1 point a lot of the time

only a few times have i seen an intentional single at the end of a game

If you miss you do almost always score the 1, not going for three and the win is really bad in that spot.

no, as was stated earlier touchbacks count as 1 point for the kicking team

so the defending team had to run or kick it out to force OT, which is what you see in the video

Um, just because in the video the returning team was able to avoid the ball going out of the end zone, doesn't mean that almost always the kicking team scores one point when missing the field goal. I know exactly how the rule works and like I said it almost always scores the point. Just because it didn't happen in this instance doesn't change that it happens almost always.

yes it happens a lot, a missed FG goes out the back of the endzone (or sometimes the side), or when it doesn't really matter too much the receiving just downs it and concedes the single point, but obv in a situation like that, a tied game with almost no time left, they have to try to get it out.

and a lot of times a missed long FG turns into a good return opportunity:

seems to happen almost every week... (-3 or 1 turns into +7)

Now that people have 60" inch flat screens, the default HD angle really needs to be from behind the quarterback so we can actually watch the routes develop downfield instead of just seeing the WR and DB come into frame 1 second before the ball reaches them. Would make the NFL 5x more watchable IMO. I'd go so far as to say that if either the NCAA or the NFL adopted this as the go-to camera angle, I'd pretty much watch that league exclusively until the other one followed suit.
Wow, I like this.

This reminds me of how in baseball, when somebody gets a hit and runs are scoring, often an exciting hit to the gap or to the corner, and instead of getting to watch the fielders hustle it down and make the relay throws they keep cutting to the baserunners crossing the plate.....I mean, sometimes watching the runner round 2nd or 3rd (preferrably just by zooing out) is nice to get some timing details, but to cut to the runners as they cross the plate, and thus causing us to miss the actual play in the field, is incredibly annoying. This is apparent in any highlight package of any game (assuming some runs scored on extra base hits).

I didn't see the play in question and just read the last couple of pages and misunderstood the game being tied. ( I thought it was meant as after the one point they would be tied, that is why I wrote the 3 for the win) Sorry for that, in that spot it's obvious to go for one.

So if they FG is good, can the opposing team still run it out? Or is it just an automatic 3?

play is dead after a made kick

I hate that, in golf, they always show the ball in the air. It's a useless view. Also hate the NFL films when they do the slow motion of the pass flying through the air.

In soccer, there'll be an incredible pass to set up a goal. But when they show replays, the only show the goal, and not the pass that set up the goal.

Yep, another baseball example is this. A guy hits an exciting triple. The next guy hits a boring routine ground ball that scores him. The highlight package then just shows the run scoring play, and not the exciting triple.

I know it's been mentioned ITT but something needs to be done about the end of basketball games. I watched the Memphis Louisville game today and it was just awful to watch. With about 1:15 left Louisville was up about 6, and for the rest of the game it was immediate timeout after every basket and immediate foul on every inbounds pass.

I don't know the solution but I know it is awful to watch. Basically just a parade to the foul line. Definately less timeouts, way too many. Maybe a delayed call like the NHL, the team that gets fouled still allowed to finish the possesion. Maybe a ten second run off on a non shooting foul. So painful to watch.

yes, it's treated like a punt if the receiving team kicks it away

right now in the Chelsea vs Corinthians game in Japan, they are using a type of technology that detects whether or not the ball crossed the goal line. I think its 100% necessary and took to long to implement. Those who watch football remember the Lampard shot in the world cup

I know you probably want to see something like the ball and the course simultaneously, but really, there isn't much going on during a golf shot besides a golf ball hurtling through the air.

this is false, they almost always show the triple and then add "he would later score on a groundour" unless the rbi was from a much bigger name player.
