anyway i think it's a pretty unnecessary rule, and kinda dumb to extend regular season games any longer than they currently are. but i'm sure the league would love the idea, anything to create more powerplay time and goals is great.
I just think if a penalty is committed that is for more time then is left in the game, the team should have the choice between playing out the penalty for the rest of regulation, or having a penalty shot, that way, if you are down one goal and have a clear shot and get mugged with 3 seconds left, you still have a decent shot at getting a deservedly reasonable chance at a goal.
