the rule where a QB must run if their pass gets deflected back to them. give him another chance to pass if he's lucky enough to get the ball back!

only allowing teams to throw one forward pass per play is a good rule imo.

well yeah but if it last touched a defender and ur still behind the LOS, I can't see a problem with making an exception to the current rule.

Chip in ball: soccer

edit: actually, just get rid of FG's period (or make them worth less). I can't believe a FG is worth 50% of a TD. Ridiculous.
It's worth less than 50% because you get the equity of the extra point(s) as well

I'd be all for this. Anything that decreases the amount of insane specialization in the NFL is a good thing imo. Yes, you want to see xpert athletes doing the thing they are good at, but watching someone strain to achieve something outside their field of expertise is also one of the great things about sport. Watching a punt kicker lay a smackdown tackle on a punt returner is pretty awesome for instance.

WTF? Did I miss a rule in the OP, or this guy some sort of forum nazi police?

Also, basketball.

Each player has a microchip on him with his height programmed in. The baskets are on an electronic slide. The baskets move up and down according to a players height, when that player is possession.

End of mutant bias.

anyway i think it's a pretty unnecessary rule, and kinda dumb to extend regular season games any longer than they currently are. but i'm sure the league would love the idea, anything to create more powerplay time and goals is great.
I just think if a penalty is committed that is for more time then is left in the game, the team should have the choice between playing out the penalty for the rest of regulation, or having a penalty shot, that way, if you are down one goal and have a clear shot and get mugged with 3 seconds left, you still have a decent shot at getting a deservedly reasonable chance at a goal.

Even if the team with the advantage is winning? You'd think teams losing would just send guys to the box to try to extend the game.

Tired of seeing fat out of shape umps and refs. Make them go to training camp. Cut those who don't measure up.

For CFL or NFL...

If you don't use any of your timeouts in the 1st half, you earn an extra timeout for the 2nd half and have 4 instead of 3.

Get rid of extra point in football - should only have 2 pt conversions. Anything that is made like 98% of the time doesnt add to the game.

The NFL should def. go to more of a college replay system, and I second the notion that the unlimited penalty for def. pass inter. in the NFL is way too much considering the subjective nature of many of those calls.

The NFL replay system is the worst. I was watching Buffalo/KC, Evans fumbles, KC recovers. Buff challenges. As they go to commercial they show a quick replay and it was obvious that the KC defender had his elbow OOB when he recovered the ball.

5 minutes (and 30 replays) later the officials finally say Bills ball.

Absolutely ridiculous.

yes.

but NFL should stack it to make it much less valuable in terms of EV, so the only event someone actually attempts it is if they are down 4 points with less than a minute to go.

Kick those union refs out of the replay booth. Only use tech savvy fans for replays. Those was can multitask; watching six screens simultaneously. Replays should take 10 seconds max.

Baseball needs a complete overhaul. Do all of the following and it's way more fan-friendly:

-Batters can't call time or leave the batters' box after entering it. If they do, pitchers can throw the ball at any time for a strike.
-30 second pitch clock. Once the batter enters the box, the pitcher has 30 seconds to throw it somewhere or it's a ball.
-If the pitcher throws somewhere other than home plate 3 times in a row without getting a runner out, it's a ball.
-Batting order starts over every inning.
-Games end after 8 innings.
-Season lasts 122 games and then is over. More rest days are added such that all teams play with 4-man rotations.

The benefits? You get much better quality of play, as #5 starters don't pitch, and the top 4 hitters on each team are going to be getting the lion's share of the at-bats. Also, better defensive catchers and shortstops will make their way to the majors as hitting becomes much less important at those positions since the #7 and #8 hitters will be getting <100 AB per season. Also, with the top players batting 8 times a game instead of 4, it will be much easier to develop superstars, increasing the overall interest level in the product for fans.

And yet, while we're improving the quality of hitting and getting more exciting matchups, we're still getting through the games quicker due to needing 6 less outs to finish a game, and getting rid of a bunch of the waiting around time. I really think baseball needs to do something pretty radical like this if they're ever going to have a chance to catch up with football and basketball again in popularity. If the restarting the batting order thing is too radical, then at the very least, they should just make it so only 8 of the players in the field bat, with no DH or pitcher's spot in the order. Then, they can either get rid of an inning or get rid of 1/9 of the games, and the AB per season will remain the same for each player for all the people that are married to HR/RBI records and think that's the most important thing in the game. Although after the steroid era, I don't know how anyone can feel that way. Really, the fact that the record book has already been raped makes this a perfect time to fix baseball.
