Don't know if it's been said as I didn't read the whole post so forgive me if it's old.

Having the MLB all star game determine homefield advantage in the World Series is the dumbest thing in pro sports IMO.

Idk if it's been said, but football should have fractional seconds on the play clock and during the 2 minute drill.

Any foul in the final 2 min give the team that got fouled a choice of shooting 2 or maintain possesion of the ball with a 10 second run off. Or the refs could just do their job and call the fouls what they really are,INTENTIONAL,then it's 2 and the ball back.

How would that make the game more fun? If you're up with the ball with 30 seconds left it's just game over?

It's not about making the game more fun it's about making commiting a rule infraction -EV,only in basketball. In football you can't commit penalties to get extra possesions, baseball you can't break rules to get more outs,it's just dumb. The game is not over at that point, you still can make legitimate steals

Well, actually in the NFL you can definitely purposely put 12 men on the field to your advantage.. Or commit PI to prevent a td.

Baseball lefties balk all the time to first, pushing the limit till they get called. You can intentionally throw balls to walk someone, etc.

So not just basketball.

It wouldn't make the game fun or exciting, but it would make it a lot more fair and angle shooty.

The rules of basketball are ridiculously flawed when it comes to fouling and the clock and possesion rules in the last few minute.

The problem is that it's been that way for so long people have just accepted it as part of the game.

A good rule book is supposed to minimize opportunites where commiting fouls and penalties is to your advantage, these situations come up every now and then, but they are the exception. In basketball they are the rule, it's broke ass shiat but everyone is just used to it.

As I was saying, these situations don't come up at the end of every single damn game.

"UFC: If the fighters are down more than X seconds, make them stand up. Force more stand up. Let them grapple but dont let them stay down there too long. Similar to the clinch rule in boxing. Fighters up against the cage for too long should also be stood up or start them in the classic wrestling position in the center with one man down and one man on top after you break the "clinch.""

They already do this. It's called kickboxing.

Seriously, though, this is a terrible idea. It's creates an incentive for the fighter on bottom to hold on and wait for a referee break. Referees shouldn't be allowed to break fighters.

In basketball
Add a foot to the height of the basket and backboard. It was created for ordinary people not seven foot giants.

no, the other team can just spike the ball and take their free yards

happens very rarely, still results in a huge play for the offense, and only after you already get burned. you dont decide to commit pass interference before the play starts like fouling.

wat, umpires missing calls has nothing to do with this discussion

come on, throwing a ball isnt "breaking the rules".

the way basketball games end is cheap and gimmicky. people act like there is something inherently wrong with the team that was winning after 39:30 of play having locked the game up but no one has a problem with football teams being able to kneel out the last two minutes of the clock if they have the ball and are ahead.

Baseball: With the bases empty, on a batted ball, the batter-runner can choose if he wants to go to first base or third base. The new "first base" becomes the first one he makes a move towards. If the batter-runner reaches safely, the direction of the bases maintains its current state until the bases become empty again.

Would confuse the hell out of the fans, you'd need like a very big arrow thing you flipped so everyone knew.

I'm guessing the point is to promote more base runners? It would a little but not as much as you think. The number of times a runner could have successfully reached 3rd but not 1st is lower than you think.

in the spirit of the game how it was in the 19th century, it most certainly is.

so is running all out on the basepaths, and hitting the ball into foul ground repeatedly

"At the end of every race, the finisher who comes in last must drive his car into the back of the jet dryer."

Promoting more awesome huge fireballs can only be a win

NCAAB... Inside the last media timeout, a foul on the defense on the inbounding side of the court results in a 10 second runoff

formula 1 - all races have to be scheduled in the host country's rainy season

Hand slapping at the end of the first free throw. When did this start? I hate it. Penalize it now.

In the NBA when u are driving and give up the ball ,yet run into the defensive player and get called for a charge, Think if u get rid of the ball a charge should not count

In the last 4 minutes of any NBA game, coaches can attempt to distract opposing FT shooters by dancing in the restricted arc.
