If a SP is removed before throwing 80 pitches, then he is ineligible to pitch for the next 10 days.

Absent a rule change, baseball inevitably will drift away from the SP/RP dichotomy and more in the direction of "openers", etc. I don't blame the managers or the teams for following the analytics. They are paid to win. But it's bad for the game. It increases the length of games. It's bad for fantasy baseball and DFS. It makes historical comparisons of modern pitchers to pitchers of earlier eras even more difficult than it would otherwise be. It muddies HoF decisions.

All of these things are bad for fan interest.

And diminishment of the SP as a concept probably will reduce pitcher compensation over the long run, which is bad for the players.

And my rule would not increase the injury risk to players. If a pitcher needs to be removed before throwing 80 pitches because of discomfort or a drop in velocity, then he probably shouldn't be pitching in the next ten days anyway.

Needs a runs component. It'd be stupid if managers had to decide wether it's worth to let a guy like Kyle Wright in game 3 ATL-LA give up 20 runs to get to 80 pitches (like he was on pace to)

That won't happen often, but fine. If a SP allows 8 runs (earned or unearned), or he throws eighty pitches, he can be removed without penalty.

If a local puts your ball in the hole on a blind green to fool you into thinking you aced a par 4, you should get two minutes with a 1-iron and absolved of any charges.

NFL OT: If it's tied, why not just keep playing after 60 minutes. Then make it sudden death?

NFL

The home team automatically win the coin flip - for the start of the game and in the event the game goes to OT. This rules can apply to ALL games - except maybe the Super Bowl? Or give the better record team the auto win in the event the SB goes to OT. No way Super Bowl would ever part with the coin flip theatrics.

If this is the rule, then a team can't lose because they lost the coin flip. They already would've known they lost it and they can play accordingly in the 4 quarter if they don't want the game to go to OT

When regulation ends, just continue where you are.

EX: It's 3rd and 5 at your own 30, the score is tied and the clock hits 0:00 in the 4th quarter, then nothing changes expect it is sudden death with a ten minute clock.

It's still 3rd and 5 at your own 30.

If it's sill tied after 10 more minutes, it's a tie.

IMO they should just do away with NFL Regular Season OT.

If you play to a tie over 60 minutes, the standings should reflect that.

That would take away from the 2 minute offense, which is an exciting an perplexing part of the game.

i despise sudden death in professional sports.

add time. keep playing. at the end of that time, look at the score. rinse and repeat.

eventually somebody will win. i guarantee it.

lol tie. da fuq are they getting paid for? play till the death imo. all games. don't like it, take up accounting.

The players union had the OT reduced from 15 minutes to 10. So, I don't see them accepting any deal that elongates games.

Keep regular season OT as is. For the playoffs, let the teams simply continue to play until somebody has the lead after an equal number of possessions. If you want to speed it up a little, make 2PC mandatory after touchdowns.

Yes it would suck for a team to wind up playing 5 1/2 quarters because of this and then have to turn around and play the next week. But in a defensive struggle, you could have the same thing happen under current OT rules. So deal with it.

Figure skating team event - make free programs 10-8-6-4-2 points instead of 10-9-8-7-6. Currently short programs are much more important, which is kinda backwards

As a youth around 10 years old and it's a terrible thing looking back but my friends house was right next to a local golf course and we would hide behind the trees between his house and the blind green and take turns running out and stealing balls that found their way onto or near to the green.

Also reminds me that I got a hole in one on maybe my 12th birthday while playing with my Dad teeing off into a blind green. My shot was one of the worst ever off the tee. It was a short course and the hole was only about 100 yards in total into the blind green and I bladed an 8 iron or whatever it was at the time. I don't think my Dad put it into the hole as we were both looking for it behind the green for probably about 15 minutes as assumed it lined drived past the hole. fwiw it was bladed directly at the pin though. Assuming my Dad didn't cheat me of that unreal moment it must have been an amazing slam dunk of a ace if you were near the green.

For regular season absolutely. Not sure why everyone thinks the game has to have a winner.

For playoffs, I would favour a college type system except you get the ball at YOUR OWN 35. NFL Kickers are too good. You have to make the team gain a couple of first downs for a realistic FG. From your 35 if you can get 25 yeards you have 57 yard FG which isn't a gimmie but still makeable for NFL Kickers.

Grunching here...

Why doesn't soccer have a clock that stops and starts with the game? Why does only one person in the world know when a match is going to end?

I actually thought I good idea would be to have an extra time clock. It starts and stopped based on specific rules ie.,, goal kick, etc.

That way the game clock still just runs but then everyone can see how much stoppage time is likely as each half progress. It also stops ref shenanigans of adding 6 minutes to the end of the game when there has been almost no stoppages.
