The Hockey WLT scoring is a must change.

I would like to see the goal area 10% to 15% bigger in soccer and hockey.

Couple of things I'd want to be changed in football/soccer (some may be redundant):
*Decrease the size of a field and standardize the measurments!
*9 players, including GK should be enough then.
*Remove any kind of cards and introduce time penalties.
*Get rid of that stupid away goal rule in KO stage.
*Playing time should be 2x30 min and STOP THAT ****ING CLOCK FOR ****S SAKE.

The game itself is great, but the rules just suck. There has to be something done.

(and, no, there's absolutely no way you could keep this from becoming a popularity contest).
If there was a way to ensure that bias wouldn't come in, it would be interesting. Like nationally shown games. At the least it would be interesting to see real-time voting on what fans think about instant replay calls vs what refs decide.

I'm guessing that bias in favor for /against certain teams wouldn't be as evident as you suggest.

kinda hate this idea. 50+ FGs already have an inherant advantage in that you don't have to move that far up the field to get them. I would hate to see a situation where a team is down by 4 w/ 1:30 to go and the other team purposely tries to let them into the red zone.

what the nfl needs is less incentives for teams to kick field goals, not more. the ending of practically every close and overtime game becomes incredibly anticlimactic as the team with the ball plays very conservatively in an effort to get to the ~20 yard line and then maybe runs the ball into the line a couple times to get a spot in the middle of the field. yawn.

I would really like to see the playoffs for baseball changed, a 5-game series is ridiculous for the first round, it should be 7 and the WS should be 9.

Also please get rid of the DH

NHL (serious proposals):
- Ged rid of instigator rule
- Make the delay of game penalty reviewable
- 5 shooters during shootout
- 3/2/1/0 points

(lulz proposals)
- Get rid of the trapezoid but the goalie is fair game if he is decides to play the puck.
- On delayed penalties, you cannot pull the goalie for a 6th attacker, the goalie has to serve as the extra attacker.
- Extra two minutes for a player with a visor who fights without getting his helmet off

of all the rules in sports, allowing baserunners to do this is probably one of the dumber and more illogical "legal" acts. it's really not a hell of a lot different than a NFL d-lineman going for the qb's knees.
The Bill Hall play was just straight up dirty. Ump should have thrown him out of the game before Ramirez landed. I say this as an Astros fan.

In general though I don't see a problem with a sliding player being able to "take out" a middle infielder as long as they start their slide early enough and are still able to reach the bag.

when players slide 5 feet behind the bag to take out the 2b/ss they should be suspended imo. it's ridiculous.

Like I said the ump should have thrown him out b/c that was egregious. I would also agree that the league should suspend a player. Unless they want the pitcher to seek vengeance and end up with Bill Hall getting drilled in the helmet with a fastball, freaking out 30,000 fans and possibly causing damage to Hall.

Bill Hall is also a 2nd basemen so Hanley can get him back anytime down the road.

It's not hard to review "did the player land before the bag, and were they still in reaching distance to the bag at the end of their slide"?

Not so lulz. This is how it was when I was a kid, and watching the goalie leaving the crease was exciting because he might get smoked. Added entertainment because a huge brawl would ensue if someone actually hit the goalie.

baseball:

-if you don't slide into the bag, you are out and the double play is assumed. this is a little goddamned ridiculous since THIS BASICALLY IS THE RULE but it is not enforced whatsoever.
-catchers cannot block the plate
-related, runners cannot **** the catcher in the ass pete rose style
-again those two things ARE THE RULES IN BASEBALL but they are not enforced

baseball is so goddamned dumb

also red sox pitchers should be banned from baseball for making it unwatchable

Soccer with time penalties used fairly liberally, including for diving, might actually be worth watching.

Further, what's wrong with adding rolling substitutions? Get fresh bodies in there so they can sprint more than occasionally — seriously, traditionalists, you'd rather see the starters jogging than everyone running?

I feel like I may have posted some of these before, but it doesn't appear I've replied to this thread... These are all for NBA BASKETBALL:

(1) Give each team's coach a bag of ball bearings before every game. The coach may pour these out on the floor at any time/place in the game, generally speaking to trip up an opposing team's player(s). He only gets one bag per game though, so he has to make it count.

(2) Make it so that baskets don't score any points. The goal will still be to make baskets, but players should just do it because it's fun, and they shouldn't really count as far as the results of the game are concerned.

(3) Overtime should be sudden death, not this 5-minute crap.

(4) Shots past half court should be worth 5 points, and full-court shots should be worth 10 points. This would make the end of blowouts a little more dramatic, and you'd have a handful of 5/10 point specialists in the league. Of course, this point is irrelevant if (2) above is enacted.
