I'm fine with the current fumbling through/out the end zone rule. I don't want players carelessly stretching for the pylon with no consequences for a fumble. That said, they should fire the replay official who blew the Pats/Jets replay review.
change the down by contact rule in NFL to the college rule if youre concerned with player safety. lot of players get blasted when they are on the ground as it stands
in NBA. you should be able to advance the ball using your timeout.
but you should NOT be able to huddle and have a timeout. if you choose to huddle and have a TO, you forfeit the right to advance the ball.
Not convinced it would improve it but soccer/football:
For every minute you hold up the game with injury, you must spend at least 5 minutes on the sidelines. If you leave the ground on a stretcher, you don't get to come back on.
I have no problem with the fumble/touchback rule in general...on a garden-variety play where a guy has the ball punched out at the 2 and it bounces around forever in the end zone before going out the back, I don't think the offense should be rewarded by getting the ball back.
It's just when you extrapolate that out to the extremes (like dealing with the pylons, which are considered to be both OOB and part of the end zone) that you have silly **** like what we've seen the last few weeks. But I still don't think it's unreasonable when you also have a rule where a guy can nick the pylon with the ball in his possession, and it's a TD even though he was an inch away from his whole body landing out of bounds.

The other team shouldn't get 20 free yards. Would you be OK with a guy fumbling on the 5 and the other team gets the ball on the 25 yard line? Spot the ball on the 1.
Worst NCAA rule is touchbacks on punts being judged on breaking the plane vs whether it hits the end zone or someone standing in the end zone. It makes it so much harder to referee and is way, way less visually pleasing than watching someone in the NFL tip toe at the goal line just long enough to swat the ball back into the field of play
NFL.
Take the top 17 teams and put them into the A league. All the **** teams go to the B league
Both leagues play a round robin, no divisions. B league teams play 2 fewer games to incentivize owners to make their teams not ****.
Bottom 4 teams in A league get relegated and replaced by the top 4 B league teams. Top 8 A league and top 4 B league advance to playoffs.
Higher seeds get to choose between two opponents in all playoff rounds.
Playoffs Rd1 (12 teams)
1A-4A get a bye and play a non-elimination upper bracket game in Rd2.
8A or 7A @ 5A
7A or 8A @ 6A
4B or 3B @ 1B
3B or 4B @ 2B
Rd2 (8 teams)
4A or 3A @ 1A
3A or 4A @ 2A
Winner of these games gets another bye, loser drops to lower bracket
Highest remaining seed from the 5A-8A games hosts their choice of the two advancing B teams, lower seeded A hosts the other B.
Rd3 (6 teams)
Winners of upper bracket games get a bye.
Higher seeded losing team from the upper bracket hosts their choice of the two lower bracket teams, lower seeded losing team hosts the remaining team.
Rd4 (4 teams)
Higher seeded winning team from the upper bracket games hosts their choice of the two teams from the lower bracket, lower seeded winning team hosts the remaining team.
Rd4 winners meet in the Super Bowl at a neutral site.
Way more good games, more hilariously bad games, no garbage divisions with a free playoff spot. Fans of B league teams get to see more wins and can still dream of winning the SB.
I'm not saying this is you, but I feel like some people think there will be actual robots behind the plate, like R2D2. The ump will have an earpiece that dings for a strike.
I was picturing nothing behind the catcher. I guess if umps are still there and making the calls - that alleviates a lot of my concern.
