In the old days in hockey they only had one penalty box. So 2 guys would duke it out and then have to go sit next to each other for 5 minutes, lol.

In both NFL and college football a down ball carrier has to have both knees OR both elbows down OR a combination of both to be considered down.

I think a lot of ball carriers get away w/ a no fumble call b/c they had an elbow or knee down in a split second moment which bails them out.

Not to mention w/ just one elbow or knee the ball carrier may not have lost their body control yet and could continue running.

Sacrifice target offensive lineman. Target wide receiver gains +2/+2 and has trample until end of turn.

Get rid of the defensive 3 second in the NBA let them play whatever defense they want.

NFL overtime you only win if you have a 6 point lead or have more points at the end of OT.

I like the idea that dead ball unsportsman like conduct penalties should be like yellow cards or something in soccer. Purely an individual thing. Get 2 in a game, you get ejected. Get so many in a season, have to sit out a game, etc. Punish the player, not the team, coaches, and fans for a dead ball penalty that does not effect the game in any way, shape, or form.

Also, college football needs a clock run off rule like the NFL, college already has so many extra ways to stop the clock and now we can add intentionally spike the football regardless of whether or not you're set or have too many men on the field. Spiking the ball to stop the clock is valid, but allowing a team to do it without being properly set is just bogus.

Ya didn't realize there wasn't a run-off rule in college, that's ridiculous. So the qb/center could just sprint ahead and spike the ball?

would that matter? the clock was already stopped because of the spike and then the penalty was enforced for too many men.

It allows the offense to get a free timeout by commiting a penalty.

When the offense wants to spike the ball the clock is running and they want it stopped ASAP. There has to be some motivation to force them to wait till the ball is set properly and they are lined up properly to do so, the run off ensures this.

Without it the center and QB should just snap and spike the ball regardless of everything else going on.

There are apparently rules about when the run off happens vs. when it doesn't. For example in the NFL if the offense commits a penalty but was set there's no run off (this happened a few weeks ago I forget the game).

I'm not sure but I'd call too many men on the field not being set and I think the run off should apply in that case, but I'm not sure.

It happened in DAL/AZ, they didn't run it off b/c while the formation was illegal everyone was set.

Pool: Start with alternating break. Break must be stolen (i.e win 2 successive racks) to become winner breaks. Can't win the match without stealing so if it reaches hill-hill with no steal it becomes win by 2 racks.

Soccer: 18 yard line with offside rule like ice hockey.

Poker, WSOP ME: Make it a freeze out and bring the poker back.

There is a motivation, you have to move back 5 yards.

Yeah but more often than not getting the clock stopped is way more important than the penalty yardage.

I was watching this game when it happened, but I don't remember the explanation, but if the one you gave is the reason it is a BS rule. This way you could just have a WR hike the ball to another WR and make sure everyone else is set

The college football thing doesn't come up much because anytime you might want to spike the ball the clock is usually stopped because of a first down.

ME is a freeze out.

are there any big $ rebuy tourneys in the WSOP?

it could get pretty funny if they got creative in its design to draw in rich folk that were just loose and stupid with their monies

There's no good reason to not do this except it kills a few jobs.

It adds nothing for the fans and all it does it add mistakes to the game. Actually, I take that back. Managers/players arguing with umpires is somewhat entertaining. But for a sport that continually cries out that it wants to reduce the time a game takes they're really dropping the ball on this one.

Although you'd still need one "umpire" who determines where base runners should end up on certain plays.

College basketball

In the second half, rules for FT's are as follows:

7th team foul: 1 and 1
10th team foul: Two FT's
13th team foul: Choice of two FT's or a 10 second run off of the game clock
16th team foul: BOTH two FT's and a 10 second run off of the game clock (team who is fouled can decline the run off if they wish though)
