Isn't it supposed to be umpire's discretion whether or not to award home in these spots? MLB could just "recommend" to them that they use this rule more liberally (or just implement the rule, if I'm wrong about it existing lol) and that would fix the problem.
(Also total nittery here, but it should be "not having to worry about getting doubled off". Tagging up from first is something that happens a handful of times a season.)
