Not an in-game rule change, but I'd like to see Divisions get eliminated...possibly even Conferences

Imagine if they got rid of conferences in NCAA football/basketball.

Football, have an official scorer to determine passing yards/TD passes. What a joke that Kessler (USC) gets a 90 yard TD pass credited to his stats on a ball caught behind the line of scrimmage, it is not even close to a QB hitting a WR in stride 40 yards downfield for a 90 yard TD pass but it looks the same on the stat sheet.

Should have specified. I like it for College, was referring to Pro sports.

That should be scored a rush. It's no different that a pitch on a sweep that goes for a TD.

Backwards pitch = rush
Forwards pitch = pass

I get what you're saying. But who cares.

in basketball if the ball gets stuck between the rim and backboard it should be the defense's ball and not a jumpball.

leagues using alternating possession to determine tie ups should go to a jumpball in the last 2 minutes of the game.

What about a 5 yd slant that goes 85 yds after catch for td

Leave it up to the official scorer, same way he decides in baseball if the batter deserves a hit or an RBI. If the official scorer judges the tackle should have been made after 12 yards the QB gets 12 yards passing and no TD pass. No way when a QB throws it 5 yards then the receiver makes a guy miss, breaks a tackle and runs for 30 the QB should get those yards that he had nothing to do with, maybe have a unearned passing yds/TD stats.

I'd be fine with the official scorer not giving QB's an int when the ball is off a WR's hands or hail mary's at the end of halfs and games.

Isn't the idea behind the possession arrow that the refs at those levels aren't trained enough to throw a fair jump ball, though?

According to The New York Times:

Quote:
The reason that the N.C.A.A. eliminated the jump ball from everything but the beginning of the game and the start of overtime was mostly because of officiating. Coaches bemoaned poor tosses and unevenly governed rules about the movement of players around the circle.

"If you've seen a lot of basketball, you know — there's probably 10 guys in the country who can throw it up well," said Rosborough, the Arizona associate head coach.

Officials were weary of policing the microbursts of mayhem. Trouble sometimes began before the tip, when players would try to get the tallest player into the circle.

"The rules committee got rid of the jump ball because of the chaos," said Hank Nichols, who worked several Final Fours as an official and now serves as the N.C.A.A.'s coordinator of men's basketball officials.

"The jump ball was chaos, especially at one end of the floor or the other," he said. "Then, when you did have a bad toss, the whole thing just looked like a circus."

Now, the games begin just as they did when Naismith first tossed the ball in the air. After that, everything changes.

baseball managers don't have to wear team uniforms in the dugout. These guys all look like full kit wankers

yeah either get rid of the manager uniforms, or allow them to play if they want to

extra roster spot essentially, added strategy potential with player-managers

Official scorer discretion is literally the worst part of baseball

Football could use it tho, I mean we all need to hear more whining from karakball enthusiasts

Does basketball have an official scorer to determine assists? I honestly have no idea...If a player lobs the ball over to Lebron and he scores on an iso play is an assist given?

F1

The starting grid should be the reverse of the championship standings after the previous race.
The only qualifying session should be before the first race of the season.

The official scorer for the game is employed by the home team and work is theoretically reviewed by the league. Depending on how long it takes Lebron to score, that might be an assist at home and no assist on the road.

Roster spots only available for a player eligible for HoF. Would be so ****ing funny to see aging bench coach who hasn't played in years insist he should get into the game over current major leaguer.

All types of ground rule doubles should give ump discretion as to whether or not the runner on first be awarded home.

I want this just to watch entire fan bases go on tilt every time the ump allows someone to score.
