I am a Texans fan and I was super-pissed that the Texans didn't go for the touchdown on 4th and goal from the 2.
Drew, the end of that drive looked terrible, they had no way to pound it in. They must have had like 6 or 7 plays from inside the 15 and just didn't look good. I had no faith that Dayne could jam that thing in. Kick it and get within a score.

I do realize that you need two scores (minimum one TD) just to at least tie, and that if you get the TD now, then you may get another later and take the lead, but how often do you get the TD here?

And if you don't, you are in a much larger hole still needed 2 scores and giving the ball away.
Even if you don't make it, you have the opponent pinned on his own 1. And Fortune Favors The Bold.

But I agree it wasn't absolutely critical to go for it there. I just wish they would have.

In one of the games yesterday, Jets/Bills I think, the color guy said it was important to hold onto the ball and not make turnovers.

Saw Berman say that last night. Everytime he rubs one out to Favre that Tom Jackson dude is always doing his best to go along and not say anything career-threatening.

"That was a touchdown-saving tackle!" ~Most announcers.

Yeah, buddy, they all are. If the guy running with the ball towards the end zone wasn't tackled...he'd score.

ESPN keeps doing these inter-sports team comparisons. Or maybe just Kornheiser. Tonight within like 1 minute of his telecast he likened the Patriots to the '27 Yankees.

Why would anyone say such a dumb thing? Yes, the Pats have a great offense.

That's like saying meatloaf tastes just like filet mignon because they are both brown and meaty.

Also on one of their lame shows the other day ...damn I forget what sport it was but they asked a guy (in his sport, or on his team), who "was like Jeter, and who was like A-Rod?"

WHAT!?!? WHY!!!!!!! The guy was like "uhhh, well....uhhh. those are both great athletes. We've got a lot of great athletes on our team...." He totally hated the stupid question.

CLIFF NOTES: ESPN, stop comparing players/teams in one sport to players/teams in another.

As the Padres and Rockies are heading into the 12th, ESPN runs a Sportscenter promo and the three headlines are:

1) Patriots/Bengals in-depth analysis
2) Will the Packers make the playoffs?
3) Kobe's vow of silence

Nobody is gonna forget that playoff baseball is being played on something other than the ABC family of networks just because Stuart Scott doesn't say that the one-game playoff was bananas.

This is the network that made almost no mention of the awesome 18-inning playoff game between the Astros and Braves a couple years back. I think the Yankees were playing the Red Sox that night or something. FU DISNEYSPN

When Kent hit the walk-off? If so, that was one of the best games no one saw.

Seriously, someone needs to tell Berman to shut up, at least when Madden sucks at the teat of Favre it's amusing in a stupid Maddenism way, Berman is just pompous.

I think we are talking about two different games. Kent hit a walkoff right after the BOS/NYY game that set the record for longest playoff game. For some reason, and I could be wrong, they intentionally walked whomever was in front of Kent to pitch to Kent instead.

lol I heard that line, too. how [censored] awful.

dude, no wonder why everybody hates the [censored] USA. Let's all wear Wrangler and drive Chevy Silverados because everybody does blue collar [censored] and works hard and has their trusty dog riding co-pilot. and then we all head back to the farm after a tough day and sit down to dinner where we say grace and have a big glass of milk to wash it down. oh, and "OUR PURPOSE" is to sire many, corn-fed redneck infants to be just like us. and NASCAR and rodeos are the [censored] greatest.

what the [censored]. what an abysmal advertising campaign. somebody better lose their job over it.

see, I always tried to imagine what Tom is thinking when Berman says stupid [censored] like that, but I always figured it was along the lines of "what the [censored] are you talking about, you [censored] cracker. I hate having to pretend to like you."

oh, maybe we are. I meant the NLDS game a few years ago between the Braves and Astros that lasted 18 or so innings. I'm fairly sure it was Mike Lamb that hit the HR to end it.

Chris Burke hitting a walkoff in the 18 inning game imo.
Did you know Brett Favre was the only guy in the NFL who has fun?

Tim Kirkgin just said on sportscenter that he doesn't want instant replay in baseball because he like humans and not cameras to decide the game. Apparently robots run those cameras or something.
