Was it the whole Who would be stupid enough to sell a bong for 100 gr/No bong is worth 100 gr bit? He basically did his stoner imitation of a couple of guys having a conversation scheming to sell the bong, and then quipped that they could get more for it if they got Mark Spitz to take a rip from it. Something like that. Basically his whole point was that there's no way something like that is worth 100k.

Does this kinda thing actually happen semi-regularly in the South or is this just special for the Phelps case? I can't imagine a "raid" happening due to "reports of frequent marijuana smoking" in any northern state. This is ridiculous. It sounds like the response to finding a large-scale coke dealer or something.

...correct. I fully get why people on 2p2 care. The people who are getting their panties in a bunch over a little weed are ****ing ******ed.

I see in the news that they confiscated pot, a camera, and computer equipment. I suppose it's not a far leap that they are looking for more photos of the night in question. They are also going to probably look for emails, IM conversations, etc., for anything at all illegal.

Having been involved in something similar when I was in college, the police are really looking to trump up bigger charges out of all this. Mainly, were there minors involved that were supplied drugs and alcohol (one of the arrestees was 17. . . .) Was anyone on the premises selling? Who furnished the drugs and alcohol? Etc. etc. etc.

I'm a bit stunned that there was any weed at the place when the cops showed up. . . the raids were pretty easy to see coming. Hopefully everyone is smart enough to not make any statements to the cops without a lawyer present. Given the age of some of those arrested, I doubt that's the case.

As to the "why are the authorities doing this" question, that one is easy. It's the same reason underground poker games get raided. 99% of the time, this s**t gets ignored. . . until somebody rubs it in the face of authorities, complains to the cops, etc. Once that pic came out, the local authorities almost had to investigate. Half of them probably see this as just as big a waste of time as any of us do.
