Re: Peyton Manning landing spot thread.....

He is about the money and championships and wants his kids and grandkids to have a good life. For those reasons I would say its between Tennessee and Niners with Denver on the outside looking in, especially with the whole Elway douchey legacy thing and the fact he hates money. The Washington Post basically excludes KC from the question. But about what Cash said the future front office and semi-retirement prospects I'd say Tennessee is his most likely landing spot.

Singletary might have had something to do with that. The 9ers loaded up on top picks for years. They struck out some but not really that many.

2011-Aldon (Culliver in the 3rd, Hunter in the 4th)
2010-Davis-semi bust/Iupati-pretty legit (Bowman in the 3rd)
2009-Crab (rest of the draft is pretty much crap)
2008-Horrible draft overall Balmer / Rachel are two turds. Best pick could be Larry Grant (7th round)
2007-Willis/Staley (Mcdonald in the 3rd, Goldson in the 4th, Brown in the 5th)
2006-Davis/Lawson (Haralson/Walker in the 5th/6th)
2005-Obviously Lol smith but Gore in the 3rd (Snyder and Baas are starting lineman now on other teams)
2004-Lol Woods (Spencer, Smily, Sopaga, Lee make this a solid but not amazing draft)
2003-Kwame-wow he ****ing sucks (lloyd, Battle in the later rounds)

Team hasn't gone crazy in FA. They made a sick FA deal for Justin Smith who has been everything and more. Rogers was a good pickup.

capone, my point was that the 9ers are young and have a bright future. A team "built to win now" is more like the packers.

If you have Aaron Rodgers and a competent GM and coach you are built to win now and anytime in the next 8 years or so

I think just having Rodgers accomplishes that. I don't think McCarthy is the great of a coach.

Re: Peyton Manning landing spot thread.....

Bill Rhoden this morning on TSR was trying to compare this Peyton situation to labron's Decision nonsense, suggesting they are similar and wondering why Peyton isn't getting raked across the coals for being a drama queen. Ugh, Rhoden is such a ****ing ******.

Re: Peyton Manning landing spot thread.....

If Peyton has an hour on the Mothership like LeBron did, than call him a drama queen. The guy is allowed to take his time to make his choice. Really though it should of taken until the Nines showed interest. Its clearly the best choice to win Super Bowls.

Re: Peyton Manning landing spot thread.....

when i hear "built to win now" i think of a good team with older players whose window is rapidly closing. not the team that is likely to be the best in the league (packers) or any team that was a playoff contender last season and figures to be again this season (49ers).

i guess it's all semantics though.

Yeah, if he has a tv special that leads to millions of dollars being donated to kids, get the pitchforks out!

Re: Peyton Manning landing spot thread.....

with respect to the 9ers it should say ready to win. Titans and Denver are a little farther away from that. With respect to Denver they do have a stud in Miller on D but the rest of the D isn't that amazing. Their skill position players aren't that amazing either at this point. With respect to the Titans, I think they are fine on O--very good OL, good RB if he cares and a potential stud WR if he stays healthy. Their D, I think is an issue at this point. Lost their best corner. Don't have many studs on D. I like the 9ers and the Titans--I hope he goes to the 9ers but of course I hope he doesn't go to the Broncos e/c with respect to lol at the end of the Tebow era or the Tebow benching.

Future FO job has no role in this at all.

Setting aside the fact that it violates the CBA and the cap to promise Peyton a job after retirement, this theoretical offer adds basically nothing since Peyton will have numerous opportunities to take FO jobs when he retires anyway.

that's a bit much. at the same time, it seems this process is taking longer than it needs to. did he really need to fly across the country to Denver, then days later have Denver fly all the way back just to watch him throw for 20 minutes? that couldn't have been done in the same day?
