I mean, it makes sense from the standpoint of putting fannies into the seats in Jax (which is notoriously difficult to do even when jax has a decent team) but it seems silly for them to trade for Tebow imo.
Well he's the same QB+tons more hype (and a bunch of casualfans thinking he's really good)+a validation that his running style can work.
So basically you get a local hero+a higher ceiling than during draft day.

Bench, would probably be best for him anyways.

I see AZ is 16 million over the cap right now - what would they do to free up that amout plus PM salary? Are they converting everyone to signing bonuses?

That said Jacksonville probably would make it worth Denvers while, and it would be a lot of fun to see the awkwardness between "yay Tebow, he's the best! Everything's ok now!" and "oh..."

Yup, and the possibility of flipping Tebow to an attention starved Jaguar team. This would be a coup for the Broncos.

As a central FL resident I find this prospect appalling. I have enjoyed being able to watch the Dolphins for the past few seasons thanks to the Jags being blacked out. I'll have to actually watch that crap again instead of the Dolphins if people start showing up to their games again

actually florio at PFT did a separate article that still says AZ is +16, so they have a lot of work to do

I figure the NFL Players Union would never "allow" him to do something like that, but I always wondered that about mega rich players in sports. Why not just take a considerable pay cut, so your team can sign other players?

I saw two numbers for Peyton's net worth, $115m and $142m. Let's take the lower number and say his net worth is $115m now. So what's the real difference between retiring at $125 million net worth in 3 years vs. retiring at $150 million net worth in 3 years instead?

You're super loaded and completely set for life either way. Plus if you give your team a considerable discount, you'll be praised in the media and it will help your legacy. Then there's the added championship equity you provide yourself with the skilled players your team can now sign. Win more championship/s and that helps your legacy and increases your post-retirement earnings.
Difference of $25 million compounded over 20-30 years is a **** load of money fwiw. Payton is still young in real world terms.

Again, to repeat, the Dolphins are NOT out of the running, a source cure confirmed. Operator error on the "not" before ... Things still on

Hahahaha..... a lot of hearts sunk quickly in Miami!

But then comes the issue of talent. Denver has Ryan Clady at LT, while Arizona doesn't seem to have even 1 competent OL (in pass protection at least). Denver has 2 dynamic edge rushers and Champ Bailey, and altho the Cardinals have a similar amount of solid players, the distribution of talent by position certainly favors the Broncos. Arizona also needs to get rid of Kevin Kolb

Jax absolutely might give up a 1st from the way Shahid Khan talks about him. If he's smart, he will realize that no other team in the league would give that up, and theres no reason to get in a bidding war against himself
Supposedly the biggest draws for AZ are

1. Larry Fitz - Best WR Peyton would have ever played with plus Fitz + Wayne would be much sicker than anything Den has.
2. Whizenhunt - Apparently he and Peyton became chummy ever since the Pro Bowl he coached in which Peyton played.
3. Dome Stadium/weather - AZ will close their roof for every home game if that is what Peyton prefers.

Personally I'd be more worried about getting slammed into the frozen turf in Nov/Dec if I had Peyton's neck more than anything. Still think Miami makes the most sense imo.

I think it's safe to presume it's 100% of fans not rooting for the broncos that want tebow as a starter and only something like 35% of broncos fans.

Last edited by wheatrich; 03-12-2012 at 01:44 PM. Reason: certainly denver has a lot of fans of other teams

No disrespect to Fitz, but he is not better than prime Marvin Harrison.
