Depends on what they use the cap space for. If they upgrade their receivers, o-line, corners with the money rather than sign Peyton Manning at 90% or whatever I think it's the right choice.

I found it strange that Dungy was talking about the Niners a lot this week. Niners would have the money to sign him, if this is where Manning would want to play.

9ers have the money, the thing is if Peyton wants serious cash we wouldn't have the money to sign some of our key free agents (Rogers, Snyder?)...we already signed Brooks and franchised Goldson. Losing Rogers would suck but if that's to get Manning than we can do it. The one good thing the 9ers have is Kep who can hopefully back up Peyton and learn a lot from Peyton if that things happens.

Niners will work out Randy Moss tomorrow. Also there is a mystery team on this whole Manning thing.

Manning to Moss, touchdown 49ers has a good ring to it.

Also I think the Niners will be fine without Rogers

Actually Manning/Moss/Fitzgerald sounds better...

The only reason I said time will tell is because we don't know about Peyton's health, and we really won't know until we see him out there. If we knew Peyton was healthy, then I would agree with you.

Do we really think Randy Moss is going to be even 50% of what he was 5 years ago? The guy didn't even play last year, and he was pretty much a disaster in 2010. It will be 3 years since he has done anything meaningful in the NFL, and he's also a total primadonna who runs in stark contrast to the type of culture Peyton has always had around him.

If I'm signing Peyton I'd much rather give him Wayne. That's a much safer and more rational move. You're getting what will probably be a better player at this point, you're getting someone Peyton has had great success with, and you're not assuming the huge downside that you do by adding the divisive Moss to your roster. It's just a much better all around move.

Tebow will transition seamlessly into a blocking fullback and special teamer.

Denver really makes the most sense if you're Peyton when you think about it. The overriding goal of this comeback is to get another ring. None of the teams he's looking at offers an easier path to the playoffs than Denver, as they would be a huge favorite to win the division again with Peyton at the helm. On Arizona, Peyton would be at best even money to win the NFC West over the 9ers. The NFC is loaded in general now so banking on a wildcard is pretty shaky. The only counterpoint to all of this is that Denver's schedule is brutal this year. Arizona's is a lot more forgiving. I still think his odds of getting to the postseason (and making a major postseason run) are a lot higher on Denver though than on Arizona. The NFC West would be a much tougher division to win, and even if he makes the playoffs he will have a much tougher road to the Superbowl in the NFC than in the AFC. The AFC stinks now.

Then the Broncos' ****ty defense will allow 50 points to the Pats in the playoffs and people will call Manning a choker.

How are the Broncos a better path to the SB than the Chiefs? Chiefs have a much better defense, pro-bowl WR, all-pro RB.

one time to the broncos. If they can afford it, and I think they can, they should pursue mario williams. Mario and doom with von on the outside. yikes

most importantly though is the chiefs have a last place schedule whereas the broncos have a first place one

I think its pretty equal otherwise in terms of defense and cap space...alot of the chiefs offense will have to do with whether charles comes back running well or not it seems to me

but it doesn't look like it matters

Broncos have ryan clady and cap room to sign Reggie wayne, 2 edge rushers

Wayne might be done, Chiefs have 2 very good edge-rushers (one pro-bowl), a very solid LT and a WR in his prime with worlds of potential. Oh yeah and more cap room than just about anyone

Strength of schedule only effects two games per year. With Denver and the Chiefs in the same conference, they play virtually identical schedules.

The only way that comes into play is if it comes down to the those two games impacting who wins the division, since the wildcard teams are pretty likely to come out of the AFC East and North.

Obviously you'd rather play the Buffalo and Indy rather than the Pats and the Texans, but given that Denver won the conference last year after a horrible start, you'd think Manning would be relatively confident that they have the necessary pieces to do so again, especially with a significant upgrade at QB (assuming he heals well from the neck surgeries).

I'd feel bad for Tebow if that's the way it goes, but with his personality type the odds he does anything other than praise Manning and do whatever is asked of him is close to nil.

With all those draft choices, the Rams should start being a serious team in the near future.

Motivated Randy / chip on his shoulder is the good randy. Also he was pretty good in 2010 before he got cut, not for performance but for telling the owner to fire Childress - which was long overdue. When the Vikes played the Pats (last game before the cut) the Pats played a safety 20 yards deep over Moss. I think they'd know if he was worth dictating coverage for or not. He's an emotional player, he wasn't happy all year and he quit in TEN. He's definately in a better mindset right now, he'll be a legitimate starting WR and potentially really good. The better the team and quarterback the better he'll be.

2010 Randy wasn't just Tennessee Randy, he owned Revis with that sick one hander.

While Manning might be stealing Tebow's job, Tebow had others things on his plate:

It seems inevitable that Peyton will sign with Denver and the fans will go ape**** when he loses in the first round.
