Just realized that if Peyton goes to the 49ers he becomes coached by the guy he replaced as QB who used to coach the guy who is replacing him as QB.

*head explodes*

I'm less impressed with our WR core than most. I think people are a bit too high on Mike Williams (although to be fair, he really needs an accurate QB to take advantage of his skill set, Tjax could never hope to get him the ball in spots where his size was an advantage).

The TEs are very good.

was on the decline already? really don't agree with that, if anything I'd say the team around him was much more of a candidate for "on the decline"

regardless I won't believe anything till I hear a team report or some video

look at this #'s progression from 2004 through 2011. lots of #'s are in a slow but steady decline. and he's 36 now. during his last healthy season there were plenty of things being written about him, that his arm wasn't quite what it was, he wasn't the same guy, etc. sure his team had gotten worse - but his #'s were a good bit worse 2011 vs peak years

throw in the 4 neck surgeries and the fact that he still isn't 100% despite lengthy rehab (admitted so today) I think people are wildly overestimating the Peyton that plays in 2012 (if he plays at all)

His numbers were still pretty elite in '10, KBZ. I'm not going to speculate on what he would be next year, but even in his "decline" he led the league in yardage and had a 66% completion rate.

well he was asked to do a ton of throwing in 2010 so leading the league in yardage is overrated

Peyton had 679 attempts in 2010 with 6.9 Y/A
Drew Brees had 657 attempts this year with 8.3 Y/A

Brees had a better team around him but that is a huge gap between an elite QB at peak powers and Peyton 2010. the gap gets bigger when you include TD and INT.

I'm just saying that even 2 years ago before 4 neck surgeries, Peyton wasn't the 49 TD guy from 2004 anymore

And the surrounding Colts 2010 <<< surrounding Colts 2004

Again, I think this is more about the team around him than him. Watching him play he was just as dominant as he ever was; but the OL was horrendous, Saturday was the only good player and he is pretty old. Wayne and Clark are good as well, but also getting up there in age. I think you are going out of your way to pin all that regression on him when the reality is that it was a offensive-wide decline

The fact that his sack rate was still absurdly low despite the poor OL is quite telling imo; I think he was getting rid of it way faster than he had to in previous years. Also the Colts haven't averaged 4 yards per rush since 2006

was never disputing that, though I obv think he would still be a massive improvement over Sanchez

this is less than 10%, maybe less than 5. Not really worth mentioning

I don't think anyone sees him that way anymore, but it's not unrealistic to think of him as close to the 2010 guy who put up some elite numbers regardless.

Why would the titans sign Peyton? They spent the #10 pick on Locker and he looked promising last season when he played, aren't they gonna give him a chance at QB1?

The Titan's big problem is that they are losing their #1 CB to free agency and their pass rush is lackluster, making their defense heading into 2012 seem ready for regression.

nerves once they regrow and they always do (it is just the rate that it happens) will be 100% as they once were.

Will Peyton want to wear 18 with his new team? Will he care? He wore 16 in college.

Arizona would be interesting. Im really curious to see what level he's going to come back at, would love to be a fly on the wall at his workouts.

Then again Manning could relish strolling into @Indy in 2012 and just mopping the floor with Andrew Luck on SNF and wants to compete with Brady so he'll choose Miami. I hope so anyway.

Peyton to Denver. They switch Tebow to TE where he instantly becomes the GOAT. Manning retires after 3 straight SBs and yields the QB position back to Tebow who goes on to become the GOAT QB

after giving it a lil more thought i would MUCH rather see the niners use their cap room to sign smith colston and finnegan than manning and wayne
