Indeed. It's kind of amazing how that awful coaching staff and defense managed to squander such great seasons from the QB position.

ironically i'm encouraged by the fact that peyton was having these issues before the surgeries.

a) he already knows what it's like to play with his arm in this condition
b) he should be in less pain now
c) he now has the potential to heal

Their rivals in the AFC west have been mediocre at best for several years. They can't even win the division. When Rivers faces an actual defense in the playoffs he is well.... not good enough. I think the Chargers are the most overrated team in the NFL the last 5-6 years.....LOL Chargers.

Real answer to this is obviously Giants. I guarantee you a bunch of casual fans actually think they were the best team in the league those years they won the Super Bowl. LOL!

It's not my fault that every single time I post, 10 different people have to come up with a bunch of ridiculous stuff ripping on Rivers/San Diego, even if I'm posting on a largely unrelated topic. It's not even like they're my team or anything, that's the Eagles who I'm super pumped for in 2012. I just get sucked into defending them because people spend so much time and effort ripping them.

Last 4 seasons seemed like a pretty accurate sample considering that the 2 years before that were Rivers' first 2 seasons as a starter, and he didn't start to peak until 2008. It's the same reason that if you were evaluating Drew Brees in 2008, you wouldn't want to include the '02 and '03 seasons (his first 2 seasons a starter) where he had QB ratings of 76.9 and 67.5 to see how he was likely to do going forward.

Rivers (or someone like Rodgers) first two seasons as a starter aren't really the same as for a lot of other guys, because it was his 3rd year in the NFL by the time he became the starter. It makes for a much easier transition, and his QB rating his 1st year as a starter was better than his QB rating last year.

It's part of the game. Manning will do well for the Broncos, better than Tebow has done in my opinion. They may have gotten lucky this past season, but I don't think they would have done much this upcoming year with him. But we will see this fall.
