this is why i said the thing about lebron! due to the liberties you've taken with why tebow has the ceiling you claim he has, you can pretty much play "devil's advocate" and assign any ceiling to anyone. you even admit yourself that

so, what are you even talking about? at one point is a ceiling just, holy **** it could happen. i mean i could walk on the ****ing moon, there's a non-zero % chance of that happening, but really who cares?

i mean why if there's a small chance of tebow working really hard and improving as a passer is there not that same chance of stafford doing it? and stafford is already much much better! i'm just rambling at this point but i think you're confusing ceiling with something else
Don't call me an idiot, I don't get why you started making personal attacks @ me and this is the 2nd or 3rd time you've done it. I responded once in kind (learn to post better), but I'm done responding to you after this. You might think I'm a complete dip**** who doesn't understand anything about football with an IQ of 40 because I'm arguing a position, but it really isn't necessary to start calling me out.

As far as my position:
I don't think you understand that most people in this thread think it's literally impossible for Tebow to be even a league average QB. 0% possibility I'm arguing that it is possible, and more. Which doesn't really matter what the % is. I'm not arbitrarily assigning peaks to random people, and I don't really get how you think I would give lebron a peak at all considering he's 30 or something and never played a down of cfb. He probably had a decent TE peak back in 9th grade or some ****, possibly better than some current NFL TE's but obviously that's not the way it broke down. All Tebow has to do is throw the goddamn ****ing ball better, and he's already league average. With even more potential than league average guys.

This has obviously run its course, but I'm not backing off what I said.

That's not the point...I think Tebow is basically missing how to throw the ****ing ball. Vernon would have to learn the entire QB postion and might not have the right mental/physical makeup and is ldo too old to do either. That's why he's a TE.

sorry about the personal attacks, you're right they were out of line.

i guess we just can agree to disagree on the difficulty of "throwing the goddamm ****ing ball better" and the likelyhood of someone with tebow's development arc of doing it.

that being said, i can't really disagree that it's possible, but i think making the leap from its possible to he has the ceiling of a top 3 QB is a mistake. at least in my experience, when discussing ceilings, you give someone a ceiling that has at least a decent chance of happening. not slightly above 0

I apologize too, I was getting upset and being an ass as well and I realize the absurdity of my position. I just don't get how people can't dismiss a young NFL caliber player as having no chance of improving to a nice level. Obv top 3 is a huge exaggeration and I concede that point I guess. I just don't think his ceiling is as low as people are thinking.

I !@#$ing rooting for Tebow 10X more now. I hope he catches on somewhere and comes back to rail Elway and friends for never believing. sorry (not believing-fake believing-then face @!#$ing him)

and lol at talking Tebow stats. He doesn't care about fantasy, all he cares about is the scoreboard. He plays ugly.. that is how he plays. Just unreal the level of doubt that gets cast on this guy. Elway just gave him some Jesus Christ inspiration to prove himself all over again. He's pissed! I want to see what a pissed off Tebow can do.

He's also missing how to read an NFL defense which is kind of important

I feel like I'm being trolled here

I hope Elway loses just because he's one of those people that just pisses me off re: LBJ, Austin Rivers, and Rapelisburger

This whole loyalty discussion is pretty lol. The job of a GM is to make maxEV decisions and bringing in Peyton is a nobrainer. Trying to get rid of Tebow with as little media/fan backlash as possible is also a nobrainer.

Elway has done a really good job so far, didn't expect that tbh

This sucks on many levels because I do like Peyton so I can't even fully root against him. We got 1-2 teddied pretty hard...sell the farm for lolPalmer and Broncos go from lolTebow to Peyton and an easy out from Tebow...NFL clearly rigged. Here's to last place finishes in the division (Chiefs have a pretty good team imo, dunno about Chargers maybe we can leave them behind)
Agree to disagree on Tebow and Elway. The AFC West continues to be a battle of a division with 4 capable teams. This notion that it is a cake division is ridiculous... when they beat up on each other. It's a tough division imo.

Last edited by brandoncla; 03-20-2012 at 01:30 PM. Reason: It's also a much tougher division than what Peyton is used to imo

that's b/c the headline #'s aren't really super important, the structure is, and it take a bit of time for those details to come out. I am seeing:

I am seeing that basically he is getting $18m guaranteed for this year

if he passes his March 2013 physical, it activates a 40M guarantee, paid as 20M salary in 2013 and 2014. then for 2015 and 16 he gets $19m in salary (but these 2 years aren't guaranteed)

Not a terrible structure for Broncos. Surprised Manning agreed to that. Probably in exchange for the crazy #'s

And, great now if Broncos miss the playoffs it because of schedule. Where as they keep Tebow and miss the playoffs because of Tebow.

Do they still have cap room to sign Wallace. Their current WRs are lacking imo especially given DThomas gets hurt constantly

you should know soon if they're pursuing him because they have to offer him a contract today if they're gonna do it.

edit: n/m deadline is 4/20 not 3/20

it seems a lot like the contract he agreed to with the colts last year except with less guaranteed and that was when he was a year younger and before he missed a season.

Would be kinda lol if Manning somehow makes it through that 2013 physical then has another set back. $60 mill in guaranteed money just for passing physicals, and another $20 mil just for showing up.

Quote:
As the football-following world processes the news that Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will miss considerable time after undergoing spinal surgery on Thursday, only one thing is clear.

Peyton Manning will get paid a ton of money, even if he doesn’t take a single snap this year.

Per a league source, that new five-year, $90 million contract was given to Manning without the quarterback having to pass a physical. In other words, he got $20 million to sign, and the Colts didn’t insist on obtaining medical clearance that he can play before giving it to him. (He eventually passed a physical before being cleared to practice last week — before suffering the setback that caused the latest procedure.)

With the Colts choosing to keep Manning on the active roster, he’ll also pocket his $3.4 million base salary for the new season, along with a $3 million roster bonus tied to Manning being on the 53-man roster for any one game in 2011.

The next question, if Manning can’t play in 2011, becomes whether the Colts would pay him a $28 million option bonus, which is due early in the next league year. The Colts can avoid the payment only by cutting or trading Manning, and it would be shocking — actually, beyond shocking — if the team would sever ties with one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

So why did the Colts sign Manning to this deal in the first place? Peter King of NBC and Sports Illustrated explained during the debut of NBC SportsTalk that the Colts had no concerns about the most recent surgery at the time it was conducted in May 2011, and that team Vice Chairman Bill Polian said on the day of the prior procedure that it would not impact the contract talks.

If the Colts knew then what they know now, it’s hard not to believe that they would have at most kept Manning under the franchise tag in 2011, waiting until 2012 to sign him to a long-term contract.

pretty sure you're not the one who understands what "mad" is and the way the term is used on these forums. Tebow gets people mad here, especially re: religion. If you don't realize that then you must be reading a different forum than I am.
