They're in good shape with the cap. The defense is a huge question mark as they could lose Finnegan and Jason Jones. Last year they lacked a pass rush but have some good young talent in Colin McCarthy(LB), Akeem Ayers(LB) and Alterraun Verner(CB).

Really don't think he would want to stay in the AFC South based on his press conference, doesn't seem bitter the way Favre did. Irsay is the only guy left from the old regime, and did his best to let him down slowly.

Hard to be pissed at an organization that pays you 28M to stand on the sideline

Peyton would still be Peyton without Marvin. Don't think Marvin is as much Marvin without Peyton.

Elway might let Peyton sex his wife if it gets him out of the Tebow situation.

Either the insecurity or the colossal ego of a first-year NFL coach with a successful first year behind him. I'm just not sure which way I'd lean with Harbaugh--probably toward the over-sized ego.

Why is Manning to Niners obviously a good fit? Alex Smith should improve more next year -- he has been through like 400 coaches/offensive coordinators in his 7 seasons and most of them were garbage. I don't care if your name is Aaron Rodgers, your development is going to be nonexistent in that situation. Signing Manning would also require the Niners to completely retool their offense and other than Vernon Davis their receivers are not good at all. This will be the first time in Alex Smith's career he has had some consistency across seasons and a good coaching staff (he didn't even get a normal training camp last year due to the lockout, entirely new offensive scheme (again), etc.).

He's obviously not Peyton Manning but he will certainly continue to improve and I just don't see the value in using the cap space on a potentially much less than 100% Manning when they can use help elsewhere. Unless Manning wants to sign for pennies to win a championship it doesn't make all that much sense.

You try to win titles. We obviously have title equity with Alex but should have more with Manning. Manning should make the rest of our offensive players better. Who knows what are window is but you should always try to maximize title equity especially who knows what the Rams stealing from the Skins will do to the NFC West going forward. Also taking Manning keeps him out of Zona.

I'm fine either Manning or Alex going forward. It won't break my heart if they give up on Alex. Manning I think would be sick but looks like a longshot.

Are you assuming a Manning at 100% and playing like he had been the last few seasons before the surgeries?

What about spending the money on o-line, receivers, corners? You can buy a lot with 25 mil. Could we even resign all our free agents if we pay Manning market value?

If its 25/per, I wouldn't do it. Currently I think Rogers + Snyder are our only key starters that havent' been signed or franchised. I'd sacrifice not resigning Rogers to get Manning. Who knows. Manning comes with a ton of issues. With that being said, 9ers have a much tougher schedule next year. Teams will adjust to Harbs. If you have a chance to get Manning, you have to do it. I know its risky. I know its giving up on Alex, but there is little guarantee he can lead us to the promised land.
