Manning will stay in the AFC so he can face Eli in the Super Bowl aka the MANNING BOWL.

You know which possible destinations are in the AFC?
Spoiler:
Houston and Baltimore

maybe peyton wants to go to an afc east team to try and beat brady twice and take a division title over him, to cement his GOATness over brady

tanny is a master at freeing up cap space. and this

Mark Sanchez 2012

Cap hit playing for the Jets this season: $14,253,125

2012 cap savings by cutting him before 3/28 when roster bonus due: $11,996,875 ($2,256,250 dead money).

That's a pretty negligible cap hit. If they see another QB they like better it's not as if they're financially tied to Sanchez. There's $12m freed up right off the top. If they want to take a shot see who can be renegotiated and make a run this year and the next.

if they believe they can win now with manning, they should cut sanchez, free up the 12 mil (to have around 15mil free), and try to rework some contracts in order to get manning.

again, we have no idea what's going through mannings head. he might not want to play in the NE, or even outdoors.

9ers GM was already on the radio today that they're not going after him. That could change, but I wouldn't bet on the 9ers getting him.

Seattle, Miami, Washington, Arizona, NYJ, and KC all seem more likely. I kinda wonder if Minnesota, Denver, Baltimore, or even Buffalo kick the tires.
I have a feeling this is a 2 horse race between the Cardinals and Dolphins. The Cardinals got a TON out of Warner in the twilight of his career, and if Reggie Wayne follows him down there PLUS the existing threats in Fitz and Beanie...wow. Miami is basically the same thing, plus the 2x games against Brady. Tough to say which conference/division he'd rather be in. I think Minnesota would be a phenomenal fit, but I think the management around here is pretty happy with Ponder, plus he would be in GB's division, which is going to make life harder no matter how good they are.

As a Colts fan, this whole thing makes me pretty depressed. As a Peyton Manning fan, I can't wait to see what he can do in a new place. If he's healthy, he automatically improves any team he lands on to Super Bowl contention IMO.

he is definitely not going to Houston even though that would be perfect for him (dome).

this is all dependent if he's even remotely healthy too.

i have no idea where he's going.

really?

So Nicks and V. Jackson make the Ravens better then Manning? I think I would rather have Manning.

this isn't MVP Peyton we are talking about. This is 3 "neck procedures in 2011" Peyton (it was 3 right?").

people are getting carried away.

I understand that but Manning at 90% is like the 5th best QB in the league.

Meh. If Peyton signs somewhere for big money and comes back, it will be because he's healthy enough to physically play well.

The real issue is whether Peyton and whoever his OC is can design the 'Peyton Manning' offense and teach it to everyone to get them all on the same page quick enough to make him perform at his peak level. Lots of teams suffer in the first year of a new system, and I can't imagine anything being more complicated than the mess Peyton runs at the line of scrimmage.

i'm just saying he might not be even close to 90%. he last played in 2010. he'll be 36 in 3 weeks. i'd be very wary.

niners have the cap space to get peyton and wayne (really, they need both) without having to restructure anyone else's contracts/cut ppl and i THINK they'd still have enough to get 1 more biggish player. adding peyton (even at 75%) and wayne to what they have already, hooooly **** that would be a loaded ****ing team

Agreed. I should have clarified that that post was based on the idea that San Francisco's personnel people have all said they like where they are, Alex Smith included. Peyton in San Francisco makes that team absolutely insane.

The Ravens seem like they've been getting by okay with Flacco. And yes I think Nicks + Flacco + VJax is > than just Manning. They've got playoff wins in each of the last 4 years and just went 12-4 the last two seasons.
