Yes, the MSU situation seems quite similar. Mass resignations and finger pointing.

PSU rebounded very effectively. It wasn’t the death penalty as many predicted.

Totally agree. The NCAA/BIG TEN office is a bunch of puzzies. That is exactly why they can virtually do nothing to baylor and MSU. They had a chance to send a message about not accepting child endangerment, sexual abuse and RAPE - and they chose not to do it. So when you do nothing to child rapists at penn state you send a message that all other sex crimes will go unpunished. A$$nuggets

I wonder why they didn't let the victims speak at these pedo st trials like they are doing in the nassar case. Maybe the Judges in Penn had more to lose by allowing negative recollections come to light.

Nassar plead guilty to his counts, but there was a sentencing hearing. Victims applied to the judge to present impact statements, and that was allowed.

It also may be more embarrassing for a boy to be molested by a man than a girl.

Nasser agreed to this as part of his plea agreement. Which he later tried to void that part because he said it was onerous and torturous. Overruled obviously with little sympathy for him.

I liked it more than that. It kind of dragged a bit and had some structural problems. The lady who played the journalist wasn't very good (she's the dead eyed hooker from the show The Girlfriend Experience. I thought she was great in that, but maybe she's just flat and dead eyed in everything but it worked in the GFE). The actor who played Sandusky was incredible, and the way they just showed him in short flashes was amazing. The Paterno kids were great/hilarious in it, Pacino got the befuddled old man act right, but it got the most important detail right

My wife and I watched it. She's not a sports fan, so she had a bit of trouble following/understanding some of the story (it assumes a pretty fair amount of preknowledge going in). I agree that Pacino nailed the role pretty well - didn't make Paterno look totally senile, but the subtext was there. The guy who played Sandusky was pretty much perfect. (Creepy but perfect)

On the whole, pretty good. And they did get the most important detail right.

I think what Pacino was going for was acting befuddled/confused ("hey I'm an old man, I can't remember what I had for breakfast") when it served his interests. And as the PR guy said, "I can't remember what I had for breakfast" is what old men say when they're feigning ignorance. I think Pacino nailed that aspect.

I think it's entirely possible that he was slipping into senility the last couple years of his life. He didn't look great. Of course, none of that matters because he wasn't senile when the Sandusky stuff was going on.....

They hit the admins pretty hard. They mostly portrayed Joe as borderline senile, but you have to understand that the movie is written to portray only the two weeks leading up to his firing (and at that stage in his life he may well have been somwhat senile, and he was sick with the cancer that killed him), with intermittent flashbacks about the stuff that happened. At the end, they pretty much implied he was guilty as ****, though.

I saw it last night and came away with this impression as well. I can imagine many non-CFB fans who tuned in because it features Pacino going, "WTF is this even about?"
