The entire PSU community needs to move on from trying to take up arms for Joe Paterno and the Paterno family. Many already have. However, a vocal contingent continues to **** that chicken for reasons that I find confounding considering the facts.

Regardless of whether Joe fulfilled his legal obligations as they existed at that time, it is 100% clear based on the facts as we know them that Joe did not do enough as a human being to stop what was going on. For this all PSU fans should be ashamed.

Joe admitted to not doing enough in his final days. Joe's sons continue to pass the buck and make excuses. It isn't doing them any favors. They need to keep quiet and move on with their lives. They are doing a disservice to both their family name and Penn State.

The entire situation is a black eye to the institution that will never completely go away.

In terms of the football program and the university leadership, whole scale changes have been made. Those responsible for these crimes, both in a legal and ethical sense, have been let go. As a fan of the football team, I'm proud of how the team responded and represented the program in 2012. I'm looking forward to great things in the future out of Bill O'Brien and the team.

I know. I posted a nonsensical rant in the psu thread a few weeks ago and then reread and felt bad; as karak said, bdidd changed his tone some time ago.

Still easily a narrative that says JP was an old guy kind of out of the loop of things who at least directed the issue to the person in charge. I mean the post here showed he was even out of the loop on football issues, so how was he supposed to be so proactive on this?

I can easily understand a PSUer holding that line.
