Maybe I am just overly cynical, but I still think the odds of the NCAA shutting down a program in the top 10 all time in wins to be slightly longer than, say, winning the Powerball jackpot 10 times in a row, then seeing a woman win the Main Event. At this point, it just seems like an easy column for sportswriters or even non-sports publications everywhere to write.

FWIW, when I was looking at the Penn State Scout board earlier today, there was a thread on there that seemed to reference information on the premium side of that board about Penn St. considering self-sanctioning with bowl bans and Big 10 championship game bans and possible loss of scholarships. Again, FWIW, the university is supposedly working with the NCAA on possible self punishment that would not include any form of death penalty.

Who knows if that is true. It seems kinda hard to believe, since the national outrage would be off the charts.

Just give all the students ability to transfer and let them keep the scholarships at other schools, preferably paid by PSU.

Imagine a transfer to Ohio/Michigan beating PSU... on a scholarship paid for by PSU.

Do we have a cite for the $500m a year number? Cause that seems really high. Like there is no way the school gets $500m from the state of PA. Maybe if you include federal research grants and/or scholarships etc.

Random footnote of the night -- I went to a Lehigh Valley (Pa.) Ironpigs game tonight and even as someone that lives in Pennsylvania, I was still kinda surprised at how many people I saw tonight sporting PSU gear. I probably saw 20-25 different people wearing Penn St. shirts or hats. It sorta surprised me to see so many people wearing PSU stuff right now at a place three hours east of State College.

Oh, I know that. PSU Berks is maybe 6-7 miles away from me. Wearing Penn St. stuff to an event with 10,000 people right now just seems like an invitation to have some random come up and talk **** or instigate a confrontation, though.

it's PA. no one is gonna randomly come up and talk ****, and if they do 8,000 people will tell them to stfu. **** even i would. there's lots of PSU alums out there calling for the entire board to resign, the joepa statue to come down, suspension of the football program cause they want to rebuild. no reason to randomly take pot shots.

It is literally a 3 hour drive to anything other than a farm. It's the perfect setup for this ****. When I went to a football game there I had to stay in a hotel 90 miles away, and I planned ahead.
