PSU alum friend just told me JoePa didn't want to go out like Bear Bryant, immediately after leaving coaching. Eery in a way if he does pass on in the near future.

probably true but the thing is, this killed him, if it wasn't for this he wouldn't be in the shape hes in...coaching at psu was his life, as soon as that was taken away he lost his will to live....really praying for a true legend

Feel 0 sympathy of any kind for him, feel plenty for family members who didn't know about enabling.

Feel absolutely none of any kind whatsoever for third party PSU alumni / fans. He was not a good man, though he will certainly be legendary for his failure to live up to his hollow veneer.

Sad but as others have said, predictable. What is more sad is how many people will be upset about this news who were angry (rather than upset) about the scandal.

And **** anyone who says that "this killed him" or the "the media sent Paterno to an early grave." He's 85. He has cancer and just broke his pelvis. Again.

Just another thing to deflect attention from what is truly important in all of this.

We'll see what Joe Pa is really made of now. Does he die tonight, on a Saturday, ruining the weekend? or does he hold on until Monday? Much of his legacy will be decided on whether he stays consistent on his Saturday decree.
