Cherrypicking stats out of context is way worse. Iggy's position is basically "all turnovers are variance and yards and yards per play are the only stats that matter, regardless of when and how those yards were gained".

I think getting different styles and perspectives in the rankings is interesting, and is typically what leads to discussion and debate in the threads. Beyond that, the real bad posters are the ones who constantly get furious over his rankings (usually homers) when they could just ignore them or post their own.

But iggy is so inflexible, week after week posting bad analysis based on cherry-picked stats, that he's no longer providing "interesting perspective" and is instead making it easy to tune him out or reflexively dismiss his arguments.

Even if his rankings are closer to Vegas' or whatever, his methodology for arguing his points is so bad that he's not a positive contributor to discussion. (FWIW, neither are people like phb who are just totally furious that some random goober on the internet doesn't recognize the greatness of the Texans.)

phb is just mad because he knows Kubiak is a historically awful coach who will find a way to blow this whole thing to hell before long.

He wants recognition during the short window when the Texans are still relevant. Can't blame the dude.

Kubiak isn't a historically awful coach. We don't know dick about coaches or how they are or how to evaluate them.

The stuff we see is such a small part of the equation. Even though coaches leave some serious equity on the table with some gameday decisions coaches have a lot more impact.

Yeah the Saints situation really highlights how relatively unimportant the gameday stuff is if you suck at the rest. But its the only thing we are qualified to evaluate on this site, so of course we focus on it. Also it is infuriating to see people make the same mistakes over and over and over and not get called out for it. Seeing some idiot punt from the other team's 40 is bad enough, having to hear another different idiot making $2m say the coach is 'playing the percentages' makes it even worse.

Kubiak is a pretty awful in-game coach in obvious situations for sure. I'm honestly not sure how much stuff he does that's actually good for the team. They didn't become winners until Wade Phillips brought his defense in. Despite his reputation as an offensive mind, the passing game is pretty much "Throw to Andre Johnson or dump to a TE/RB." The Denver zone-blocking run game is pretty much the only tangible thing you can point to that he's brought to the team successfully.

Iggy is prepared to put the Cowboys at #1 overall if they stomp the middle-of-the-pack Bears team tonight. That is not "interesting discussion" that's just a horrible take and Rome would hang up and play "that's not a good call, naw, we don't like that call..."

Rome has gone downhill so much. It is sad and infuriating. His TV stuff was always AIDS, but his radio show used to be hilarious. Now he's cut out all the stuff that made the show great in the first place in an apparent effort to appeal to a broader audience. For example, he used to go on pretty damn funny NASCAR rants, now he has those redneck tools on his show and actively promotes the sport. Total sellout.
