Btw: in the aftermath of our success, the streaming service that broadcasts DEL (along with Basketball and 3rd division soccer) is offering all of today's matchday games for free. It's only three games from the Playoffs starting so the timing works out pretty great. Plus, Marco Sturm will be the guest in a traditional Sports show for the second time in like four weeks which basically never happens to non-soccer people. I very much doubt this medal will be the start of something sustainable around here but it's encouraging.

The main problem will be imo that there is also the Football World Championships this year. If Germany does well in that one and the icehockey team has an early exit in their world championship I doubt anybody will remember the olympics.

Yeah being relegated now that people may be excited to watch the WHC would be the most german hockey thing ever, but we're up to 7th in the world rankings which should help the seeding.
