OAR may genuinely happen for the rest of the forseeable future, through 2028.
Ok, 1.5:1 that Russia will participate under it flag

Also lol at Canada not showing up to receive medals

I don't even know if I'll be around here in 2 years.. I wasn't posting during the 2016 Games. Betting with me is pointless mate.

I'm just trying to have a dig at OAR, who have had more medals stripped from them than pretty much every country combined. And the IOC is right to ban them (and it sours the whole Olympic experience when relevant athletes are competing under a generic flag.)

Opted for sleep sadly, sounds like I missed a good one. I'm just happy that Ovechkin wins nothing

Now half a day removed from the decision... It's kinda weird. I thought I'd be either super happy about the silver or crushed by blowing that chance at gold. Which honestly might be the worst loss of like any team ever since while we never expected to get anywhere near, we know we'll never get this chance again. But it's kind of neither. I don't feel especially disappointed by silver, but not that happy about it either. Maybe it's because all the ecstasy about silver already happened Friday.

If NHLers aren't allowed back again then the title is up for grabs at every Olympics.

was trying to think of similar / worse losses last night and couldn't really come up with anything

not to say that they don't exist

i know there have been other short-handed equalizers late

the obv one that jumped to mind for me was the Canucks-'Hawks series from a few years back
- Canucks get 3-0 series lead
- 'Hawks tie series 3-3 (complete with surprise G6 goalie change iirc)
- Canucks leading G7 at home late
- Toews scores SHG to force OT with 2 minutes left

but of course in that case, Burrows scored the OT winner to, temporarily, prevent rioting

I guess it's about how you weigh things... can easily argue that leading with a minute left and a man up with ~no chance of ever reaching the final again is the worst loss ever

But the we had ~no chance to reach this final, so

ya my thinking was that it's the worst loss ever

just trying to think of other ones that might compare now

Then again, it's by far the greatest success in our hockey history. As I said, I can't feel to bad about it even though "what if" thoughts will continue to pop up.

nothing to be sad about winning the silver when your team has ~0% equity if NHL players are there

Leafs up 4-1 vs the Bruins with 9 minutes left giving up 3 goals including 2 in the last minute and a half with the goalie pulled, before losing in OT to blow a 3-1 series lead.

We had like 99% equity to win Olympic gold

As for NHLers being there: has never stopped Yanks from talking about the Miracle on ice and would surely have not stopped us either.

Pretty sure it was the Bruins that lead that series 3-1 and it was the first round

Not really. Pull the goalie and score and an even strength goal against a tired, beat up team who's best player had a punctured lung.

Fyp. Shorties happen. But once you have possession it shouldn't be that hard to maintain it. Just pass it around. Dman needlessly tried to take a clapper off someone's shin pads and lost them possession and ultimately the gold medal.
