For real though why was overtime so terrible? I thought most of the game was fairly exciting, (as far as women's hockey goes) but the overtime was just so, so bad.
Doesn't make sense to me.

Well sure, but anyone taking them off on the ice is being pretty classless.

Not that there should be consequences for it, aside from the lambasting they'd endure on social media.

The medal thing is just one of those heat of the moment things. She'll probably wish she didn't do it when she looks back on it but meh, she's pissed off and disappointed I wouldn't crucify her for it.

I don't see how it's being classless

It's a 2-team tournament
Basically the only thing that matters for 4 years
They lost
In a shootout
They're disappointed

Kinda worse than your average silver

If anyone thinks that their feelings about it are more important, I say lol

Yeah, I was thinking about that after the game, that this must be the ****tiest silver medal you can get - I could see how they could feel like they're being given a silver for pretty much nothing. I'm sure it was the same for the Americans before - at least an Olympics or two after they didn't make the final game.

Still think the action itself is classless. But heat of the moment, etc., I don't really think less of her for it (not that it matters in the least what I think). I feel bad for them, just like I did (albeit somewhat less) for the Americans the last few Olympics, so I get where it comes from. At least I like to think I do, but really I have no ****ing idea what that must feel like.

Eh Olympics are about nationality basically and this is an American dominated forum. It's a really great rivalry though. Too bad no other teams are even close.

Btw is there a real reason between hitting being outlawed beyond it being not "ladylike"? As a soft Euro I obviously enjoy it, but wat

The size of athletic women varies a lot more than men, so I think that might be a reason. A lot of 6'1 185 lb women against 5'1 110 lb women could be bad. Amateur levels too, I saw my sister play on teams where there were 210+lb women and women probably below 100 lbs.

They do allow a fair amount of contact, just not aggressive hits. You can ride someone into the boards just not use max force to do it, you are allowed to stand your ground and have someone run into you (1st penalty of the game was a bad call).

I am Canadian and I think it is bad form because it disrespects your opponent and it goes against the spirit of the Olympics.

1st, the US outplayed Canada and won. Go ahead an cry and be emotional but take your silver medal, wear it, and don't make yourself "the story" when this should be about the USA as winner.

You didn't get gold taken from you and you didn't get robbed by some questionable judging. You got outplayed. The USA has been on the other end of this stick way more than Canada has. Show class in victory or defeat - it is the Canadian way.

2nd, there are countless people who would love to have any Olympic Medal. Don't be taking yours off like you are disgusted.
