"Investigation by lawyers identified at least 52 "acts of rape," including five gang rapes, by 31 football players, in a four-year period. At least two of the gang rapes were committed by 10 or more players at one time"

Since I was highly involved in a Div II program a couple years ago.

all the things you guys mentioned are absolytely 100% correct when it comes to DIV I schools. but when that **** happens at Div III or div II level..the school really investigates and treats it completely different. there is no media, so they are much more fair and dont try to save face, lower level schools actually handle it correctly as opposed to these big schools who want to save face as much as ****ing possible

This is really, really bad and obviously systemic. Where is the NCAA?
what do you want them to do when it doesn't directly involve the athletic program or department? You want them to punish a school indirectly? thats costing them those revenue $$

Want death penalty. That's what we want them to do. With all bowl money rescinded and donated to rape charities.

that'll never happen. They will claim that a lot of it didn't involve any athletic program and it was the university itself. Do you want the NCAA to punish the school itself

On the bright side, we are sort of fining them the $300M they spent on the new empty stadium.

I think the U. of Minnesota had hearings today regarding their own investigation of the 10 players allegedly involved in a sexual harassment case. This coming after the police didn't press charges after their investigation. Tracy Claeys backing his players after they went on lolstrike for their bowl game got him fired.

This happens way too much at schools, but not all of them ignore it.

The more I work with pro athletes who were big deals in school (some two-way football players), the more I am very, very sure this is the case after what they tell me goes on.

Baylor and PSU are worse than most, to be sure. But in no way is the underlying nature of their crimes rare.

If we just look at any college campus and ignore athletics, there's lots of rape that goes on, period. I'd say it's far more of a social justice issue rather than an NCAA issue.

It was 5, but do you think I am defending Baylor or something? Campus rape is covered up, underreported, and underprosecuted.

My point is that the NCAA shouldn't be the one having to police this. It should never even get to that level. Baylor should obviously be punished severely as to make an example, but I don't think people realize how severe of a problem this is on many campuses. Sadly, your school is one of the worst, which is pretty damning of your rage despite the heinousness of the events at Baylor and Penn St.

So it won't surprise me when the next school gets busted, but in the meantime, **** Baylor.

Agree but the NCAA basically gave Pedo St. a slap on the wrist. Why would they do anything about 52 rapes.

Two months ago, former Baylor head coach Art Briles sued Baylor for libel and conspiracy, claiming that school officials lied when they claimed that Briles knew about a suite of rape and sexual assault complaints against football players. Briles also insisted that Baylor officials have actively worked to keep him from getting another job.

Briles’s attorney Ernest Cannon announced today that Briles would be dropping the lawsuit because his client was getting overworked by the prospect of voluntarily suing a former employer. As Cannon tells it, the real victim here is Art Briles because he’s too tired:

I’m sorry we didn’t get this resolved for all the Baylor people, so they could know the truth,” Briles’ attorney, Ernest Cannon of Stephenville, said Wednesday.

“A man can only carry so much.”

“They overloaded him in an endless supply of money, lawyers, resources, and no restraints on anything they’ll do to achieve their goals,”
Cannon said.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Art wants some peace in his life for him and his family, and to put as much distance between him and his family and Baylor as he can, and I wholeheartedly agree with him.”

Did Briles drop his lawsuit because he knew these texts were gonna be released?

How disgusting. I feel ashamed there was even rumors of my school even considering hiring him. Thank god we didn't.

I have never understood the underlying logic behind giving a program the death penalty.

I understand it is a disincentive to keep other programs from rolling the ethical dice, but in virtually all cases, the perpetrators are dismissed from their positions and the sanctions Become the burden of those who are hired to pick up the pieces.

A stronger disincentive would be to bar coaches, administrators, etc., for life for "capital offenses", such as using influence to alter grades or legal proceedings.

Am I being naive in thinking this would be quite effective?
