When English league teams were mostly English players, their was much more ignorance about the abilities of foreign players and hence a massive over estimation of the abilities of English players.
Years of having the best players be foreign + perpetual disappointment has smashed the previous medja created false consciousness of the Ingerlund fan base who genuinely believed that Ingerlund were locks to win every tournament and were absolutely baffled when they didnt.
