Final season line:
.577/.633/.731 in 30 PA

Four BB, Two 2B, One 3B, 6 RBI, 3 Ks

1ER in last 4 relief appearances; didn't keep in-depth pitching stats.

Off to Vegas for NABA 50+ fall tournament Oct 24 - Oct 30. 5 games in 5 days plus playoffs. Far cry from playing 3 Sundays a month.

That's awesome!

I'd like to see a HR in those stats, Shohei, but other than that I like it.

Nice, does your team have a chance to take it down?

No idea, this is my first year playing with them. I think they did a few years ago but I am not certain.

solid work Kevin
god i wish i still had my 41 year old body instead of this 51 year old wreck
not sure if you remember, but i flirted with you 10+ years ago about playing in the PDX leagues, but unsurprisingly to me didn't follow through. got hooked on the golf stuff and was irrationally afraid that a baseball swing and a golf swing wouldn't mix.

Hey, so what's the deal with the Mariners? I looked up the PABC website and it looks like you guys are playing in an aluminum bat league?

Asking because I'm 41, live in PDX, haven't played organized ball since '89 (second year of JUCO), and the self pitch rec league softball that I played last summer kinda got me jonesing for the good 'ol days. I will say that there are muscles (particularly my hammies) that sure took a pounding from playing, but what the hell.

I was mostly a catcher in HS, and in college I was a catcher, 1st base, 3rd base, and did some pitching as well (but I'm pretty sure the arm can't take pitching any more).

Your post has my curiosity piqued. I don't come to 2+2 as often as I should, so XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX is probably the best way to contact me. Drop me a line if you have a chance.

Best,
XXXXX

Wow! Don’t remember that exchange. Crazy we did use aluminum in PABC when I first started.

You should come to Pier Park Saturday pick up some time. I’ll be there this week. BP. at 11 and game around noon. I show up closer to 11:45.

I just purchased a full 70' batting cage with a Jugs machine for my backyard, should be ready to go for the spring, and I got the Radar Pitching Trainer for the garage, it is a radar gun built into a pitch back, that calls balls and strikes.

No...I'm not trying to make one more run at the league, got it for my 6 and 8 year old because their dad's arm is shot and I cannot throw BP anymore. Should make for fun backyard parties though.

Would love to have a neighbor with this set up

Wow, that's awesome. God I'd love to have my own cage.

Played the NABA 50+ tournament in Las Vegas last week. 6 teams from all over the US. We finished 3rd. 2-3 in the round robin was good enough for the 3rd/4th game which we won, beating a South Dakota team that beat us in the round robin.

Give myself a A- on the mound. Very hard to judge without a real scorekeeper but our defense was so bad early the week that runs allowed were high (8 in 6IP in two games) but earned runs were probably low. Only walked 2 in those games, one was a straight pitch around. So command was good.

In the "playoff" game I came in with a 2 run lead, bases loaded 2 outs. Induced a pop up to me on near 1B line to escape that, then pitched 2 scoreless to close it out. We were up 4 by the last inning, so not a save? Who knows.

Did not have a good week offensively. A lot of pop ups and weak ground outs. Did have one great liner in a bases loaded situation that went right to the SS and one deep drive to CF that he went back on and got near the track. Managed maybe 4 hits and 2BB in 6 games, so yeah, not great.

Two errors at SS in 7 innings there and 0 errors in a bunch of innings in LF and CF.

Overall a great group to play with, decent not spectacular competition and a fun atmosphere. Best of all a week of playing ball every day beats working, would do it again in a heartbeat.

I am super sore now though.

I was shocked our whole team played every game. One guy had a sore arm and sat out defensively for one game but that was it. I think the warm air really helped.

so i don't know about you, but every now and again i have a dream about playing baseball (and also golf, but that may not be your thing). it's not uncommon for me to wake myself up from the dream right as i'm making a swinging or throwing motion and recreating some aspect of it in the waking life...spouse has actually become used to it over the years.
several months ago my dream was making a backdoor throw from my knees to first base (behind a left handed batter) to pick off a baserunner with too big of a lead. problem is i was sleeping on my back with my right hand under the pillow and my arm couldn't go anywhere. pretty sure i strained my rotator cuff but there are lingering effects and i hope i didn't do more than that.
i guess one sign of being in your 50s is when you hurt yourself while sleeping.

Ouch!

Certainly dreamt about playing plenty but don’t remember ever acting it out physically.
