went 2-for-4 and should still be leading, batting around .620 if I had to guess. threw 1.1 innings and got shelled. threw like 85% strikes, got three quick outs in the first inning I came in then gave up 2 doubles and 3 singles with 1 error in there after, with only one out (1-3 putout) mixed in. no idea why. i've never throw that many strikes with 3 pitches and got hit. lot of balls just found holes, only one ball hit hard (that went for an F8).
Two things that have never happened to me happened today: got HBP in the head and hit into a triple play.
HBP was a pretty slow curve that didn't. Ducked and it got me on the helmet. Was a bit dazed for a few seconds. Not a huge deal.
Come up with no one out in top of the last inning we are down like 6 but they have their closer in. Men on 1st and 2nd. I smoke a liner and pitcher fields it a few inches off the ground. Guy on 2nd tries to get back but can't. Guy on first thinks it bounced and he is dead easily. Game over.
Paging Kyleb: is there more to becoming a fly ball pitcher than throwing more up in the zone?
Really coming around to your comment that being a ground ball pitcher in amateur leagues is death. Our IF is averaging like 5+ errors per game I swear. Outfield is solid. I do worry about missing low and being around the belt. As I pitch now if I miss they low I can still get some ground outs.
I throw two-seams, cutters, and changeups and I give up more fly ball contact than all other pitchers on my team. I have no idea what actually works, and even if it did it wouldn't matter command-wise. I have no ability to command pitches to parts of the zone. My walk rate of 4 bb/9 is historically low for me. I just throw everything down the middle.

Reason: or try to anyway
My command is pretty good. Better than my stuff anymore. Can hit the outside really well and keep the ball low. So I get a lot of ground balls. But so many get booted it has me thinking about switching my approach. Or move teams.
Basically I started hitting .550 after a bunch of games and then I didn't want to change my swing or look at video because I was hitting too good. My swing is too flat. Towards the end of the season I started elevating it more though. Something for next year
also all my dumbass teammates hit like .280 with their $400 bats and i got my $40 RIP-IT stolen out of my car, so i borrowed a teammate's 2014 easton s4 and hit 2 doubles with it in a game. i asked how much that was and he said he got it for $50 on baseball-express, so i bought that bat and proceeded to hit .675 with a bat i had never swung before that game.
**** don't matter. also went 4-for-4 with some ****ty bamboo bat in a wood-only game when i forgot my sweet c243 blem bat (ian kinsler reject bat, got 5 of them from a hookup).
