Foles has one reg season + one playoff of eliteness. That's more than Flacco if we're going by previous standards.

I don't follow the NFL at all. I just read up on Nick Foles and his story. It seems to me that the guy is a really good player that never had the support of his franchises because he was competing against blue-chip #1 franchise QB's. And because of that was tossed around and made to look more dispensable than his actual value is.

Why so much hate for this guy? Where am I wrong?

He certainly wasn’t elite on Survivor

he's a better passer than Wentz - especially deep balls - and he doesn't run around like Wentz does making him much less injury prone. Perfect fit in Philly - they got to unload Wentz.

i'd take a flier on foles over some average to poor qbs such as eli, bort, dak, flacco etc

obv he will have to make way for carson going forward. its kinda tough when he's just led them to a SB win over the evil empire, but that's just the way it goes

hopefully he gets paid well somewhere

Lol Wentz

Itd be like if the Pats kept Drew Bledsoe over Brady or the Rams keeping Trent Green over Warner.

When you have a FOLES you build around a FOLES.

Wentz has more value on a mediocre team, but on a good team Foles is much closer.

How long PHI remains a good team is uncertain. I'd keep Wentz, but if PHI can get some crazy amount of draft picks for Wentz then its probably a no-lose situation.

The great thing about Foles is teams don't have to take a big flier on him. They can trade for him, try him out for a year a 7.5 mil, then if they don't want a long term contract they just move on.

I went back and forth on what I would do if I owned the Vikings and Keenum (who is worse than Foles, but also not competing with a blue chip prospect for snaps) shipped the title.

I think you have to throw Foles a bone and give him the starting job. I’m aware this is almost certainly a minus EV football move but he’s literally an all time face of the franchise now. Let him start until he sucks, at which point you turn to Wentz. If Foles never sucks, that’s a win too and you can still deal Wentz (who won’t have his value drop sitting out a season, team’s are always desperate for QB). Maybe I’m just overly emotional and loyal but I just couldn’t bring myself to turn on a guy who just won the franchise’s first championship, against all odds, while playing out of his mind.

Also I should add that because I’m a loser Viking fan, I honestly wouldn’t care about anything after they win a SB. Can go 0-16 forever after that for all I care. So that’s probably clouding my judgment too.

So hot hand vs the young MVP candidate? It’ll be interesting but I think they go with wentz even though the opposite decision could be the right one short term. I think you can’t trade either till you figure out what kind of shape wentz is in and how safe his knee is to play with.

seems like if they trade him it will be for a 2nd or 3rd rounder

I'd just keep him next year .... they have an elite team and would rather have protection in case Wentz has injury issues

You guys are nuts. Wentz is maybe the most valuable asset in the entire league. Foles started the season as a backup for a reason. Doug Peterson is the GOAT and probably largely responsible for the success of both QBs but moreso foles. Foles will go back to being mediocre if he gets moved to a mediocre team/coach.

I totally agree. And most situations that would want him will suck. I think you keep him until you know wentz is good to go and keep Foles if you have to. He’s not getting paid much and we know he can lead a team to wins if he has to. While the team will likely be more cautious with wentz going forward, they don’t have to be overly cautious if they have an elite backup which Foles proved to be with the Eagles.

I think you are assuming the NFL is very efficient at evaluating QBs. Plus, it's very difficult to have one flukey great game in the NFL at QB, and Foles has had many over his career.

He's a perfect fit for the Browns... they're always in need of false hope

1 SB MVP and 1 SB to 0 for Wentz at starting QB--Foles also has 3 playoff wins as starting QB vs 0 for Wentz.....it's going to be an interesting offseason. The party already got started with the Smith trade.

As a Dolphins fan who had season tickets during their back-to-back SB championships 45 years ago, I can tell you that forever is a long time.
