rag$/cats game 2

best rangers xg: trochek 86%, panarin 83%, lafreniere 77%, fox 62%, trouba 60%
worst rangers xg: vesey 6%, rempe 17%, schneider 20%, zibanejad 30%, goodrow 30%

best panthers xg: bennett 83%, luostarinen 67%, rodrigues 63%, reinhart 62%, tarasenko 62%
worst panthers xg: tkachuk 14%, lundell 15%, verhaeghe 19%, stenlund 36%, forsling 42%

damn tkachuk was horrible (and verhaeghe), apparently. and vesey has to be one of the worst rangers overall, they should try literally anyone else

I remember when he was a rookie.

My mother said she has dealt with the guy, she liked him.

They didn't lose much when Bonus was away. He was the next best guy in the AHL for a while.

How are they going to fix the PP & PK? Can he get the same D-men to sort out their duties quicker?

For a long time it seemed like Carlyle and the Jets couldn't find the right timing to get together. I guess he didn't want the job. Nobody seems to want the job.

How is anybody 6%, or even 14%?
The NHL Thread Quote

playing extremely poorly i suppose

like when they were on the ice they got 6% of the expected goals, and their opponents got 94%. you wouldn't think it'd be possible to play that bad, but i guess it is

Vesey is out week to week, so I guess that problem is solved.

Thx for doing these writeups, I find them really interesting.

Hyman backs into the goalie, "Hyman upset."

cool, thanks

yeah after i posted that i remembered that i saw vesey only played 6 minutes, but i didn't know if he got injured or benched. easy to have bad results in such a small sample. so lets take white ryan reaves (matt rempe) for example, who played a little bit more, 10 minutes:

5 shot attempts for, 15 against
3 shots on goal for, 5 against
0 scoring chances for, 6 against
0 high danger chances for, 4 against

= 17% expected goals for, 83% against

so that's basically what xg is saying

Grunch:

I don't watch Hockey very much, but shouldn't teams pull the Goalie with like 10 minutes left. Sorry for the stupid question.

Someone's done the math. It used to be done with 1 or 2 minutes left, now they do it at 3 or 3.5.

I think the math says 4.5 or something. No, like 12.5 minutes.

my layman's unscientific answer...it's easier to score an empty goal than to score a goal with a man advantage.

I meant when they were behind in the third period. Sorry for the confusion.

In the games I've watched they wait until the 2 minute mark.

I think Skinner came out when he shouldn't have . No one was playing like the goalie was pulled

another good game from the loilers, all but 2 players showed up, and they even wasted a better than average game from ceci ... you hate to see it. and developing story: think we're now 2/2 bad games from heiskanen
