ya i swear that nhl playoff hockey (especially overtime) must kill ppl every year. the beautiful part of your team getting eliminated is not having to deal with the stress lol

Make that 7 in a row game 1 losses in the playoffs for the Stars.

What was the OT goal even reviewed for? Only caught highlights and not seen anything fishy there

If Skinner plays like that the rest of the series this goes 7

Per Elliott: potential puck knocked down with high stick at some point before the goal by Hyman

If you watched that game and think Dallas is going to roll Edmonton, I don't know what to tell you. It's casually thrown around that Skinner is just bad and Oettinger is the second coming of Dominik Hasek, but here are their stats this season:

Oettinger: 54 GP, sv% 0.905, GAA 2.72, Goals saved above expected 1.9
Skinner: 59 GP, sv% 0.905, GAA 2.62, Goals saved above expected 2.0

It's not out of the question that Skinner just had a brief rough spell for a week or two in the playoffs and has now shaken it off and can give the Oilers this kind of goaltending.

If that's the case, I gotta say - none of the Stars forwards scared me. The team as a whole had some moments of a lot of pressure, but I just don't know if I see them having the kind of "well that dude is going to go out and make a goal happen at a big moment" unlike the Oilers.

gonna go way out on a limb and say that keefe is a ~random coach who won't move the needle for the devils. didn't see much evidence that he was anything else in toronto, or that he learned/improved or anything. then again, i didn't follow them all that close

what say you, phil? and others
Ya I agree, but will be interesting how he does in NJ.

Only saving grace for Dallas is getting Pavelski/Suter a cup. But still 100% cheering for Oilers.

Thanks, I didn't know those were reviewable now. IIRC Leon knocked one down with a high-ish stick behind the net to set up Bouchard's late winner in whatever game that was and some Vancouver fans were pretty worked up. Didn't remember a lengthy review for that one (though the still images one of them produced looked solidly shoulder height)

I agree that Oettinger isn't exactly prime Hasek, lots of Stars fans were pretty unhappy with him as late as early in the Vegas series. He's obviously much easier to trust than Skinner though. I don't think even the most bullish Dallas proponents would deny that the Stars don't have anyone close to McDrai*- the real sticking point seems to me that Edmonton's D beyond the first pair can be a real dumpster fire. I think people have an easier time believing that such a weakness can torpedo a playoff series than the best and 3rd-5th best forward in the world can win it. McDrai are at 2ppg with Leon getting a point in literally every playoff game, they'll probably have to continue that to go all the way.

*I was kinda surprised to see Wyatt Johnson had only 32+33 in the regular season. Dude's looked like an absolute menace every time I've watched him this postseason

It was reviewed. Not lengthy. Wasn't above shoulder. As a Canucks fan, was perfectly fine with the call.

hey, the rangers finally scored

and afterwards predictably tkachuk tackles someone and it's fight fight fight

rempe back in the lineup per the fans request so i guess his TOUGHNESS rubbing off on the entire team is why they scored.

Talking has started in regards with Max Domi and Bertuzzi and the Leafs, both want long-term deals and the Leafs are still crazy about long-term deals for some reason. So it works there, but the money may not work.

I am meh on Bertuzzi but I really really want Max to stay and hope something can be worked out.

so the czechs hammered the swedes 7-3 in one semi of the world championships, and switzerland just beat canada in a shootout in the other. host czechs haven't won since 2010, while switzerland has never won gold. glgl
