Unfortunate thing that happened at high speed. Nisk did not mean to do it. If Crosby was standing tall, he gets bumped in the hip area.
Ovechkins initial slash was worse, but still just a 2 min penalty. Crosby slash on Methot was much worse. The 2nd part of Ovi slash that hit Croz in head was follow through after the initial slash and was in no way an intent at a head shot. Regardless, Ovi did stick him in the head and needs to be responsible for it, but as the consequence of 1 play, it should still be the same 2 min penalty for slashing.
Unfortunate incident for sure, and no one even talking about it if Crosby didn't get concussed. There are plenty of similar collisions that happen on a daily basis in hockey
Is anyone talking about how play got whistled dead immediately after OV's shot hit Hainsey in the ear on Saturday night, but when Werenski took a puck to the head in Round One, play was allowed to continue for about 30 seconds when the Penguins had the puck?
If you look closely, you can actually see Ovechkin use his mind control to force Niskanen into hitting Crosby. You have to kinda squint your eyes and look at it from an angle, but you have to believe it's there.
I don't think Niskanen did it with any malice, but the 5 and a game was probably warranted based on the violence of the play and the immediate aftermath. I don't think a suspension makes much sense.
But yeah, Crosby likely done for the playoffs after this. Heartbreaking.
I don't know how good Edmonton is, and I think Anaheim is very good, but Nashville blasting pucks from the blue line and team speed look devastating. Edmonton vs. Nashville would be something else, but Anaheim has a heavy game that can overpower little defencemen.
I don't know if Pens beat Caps without Crosby, it's pretty close. I can't see either team losing the Conference Finals.
You gotta hand it to the linemen man, being able to throw your body between two giant men that want to punch the others face off is not a thing I possess
league gonna lose billions in this concussion lawsuit, and they still don't gaf about guys going after the head
(not to mention having their best players sidelined for no reason)
