He has Philly / Wash as a 50/50 series yet you can find Phily +350 so I mean that's a YOOOOGE discrepancy.

I'm in favor of team corsi stats but I don't think they tell the whole story as there are potential flaws so I personally wouldn't be betting on the Flyers and I'll give you one example...

The Capitals have some really good shooters on their team and in fact have the highest shooting percentage in the league five on five so guys like Ovechkin who score 50 goals basically every year aren't doing it by fluke so you have to take into account those factors as well.

The model is based on a massive over reliance on super recent play it seems. It'll swing like 15 points seemingly over night. Philly has been playing well of late, but the Caps seem to have righted the ship as far as process goes, and that's even with them sitting guys and rolling all four lines to keep guys fresh. I know they're the Caps so they'll make **** hard regardless of what happens, but the Flyers are a one line team if they keep voracek, giroux, and Simmons together. This shouldn't be a series, it shouldn't be 50/50 (or +350 for that matter). Caps in 6.

Advanced stats are insightful but the statisticians don't account for things you can only glean by watching games. People talk about the Rangers' possession stats and shots for/against but the Rangers' style is to keep everything to the outside and let Henrik see the shots. Those aren't high quality scoring opportunities. And then people say how the Rangers' are lucky with their high shooting percentage on goals but if you've watched the Rangers you know how they always try to go for the perfect pass that leads to a wide open net. They overpass all the time but when it connects they have tap-ins. Possessing the puck doesn't always mean you're doing something with it.

i mean maybe the rangers really are an exception and Lundqvist obviously makes a difference, but we've heard the whole "keep shots to the outside and create high quality shots" stuff from Leafs, Avs and Flames fans in recent years and that didn't hold up particularly well
