forwards with more even strength ice than shooting Sedin: Higgins, Bonino, Vrbata, Henrik, Burrows, Hansen
forwards with a better Corsi than shooting Sedin: Henrik
Corsi after 3 games: Henrik +37, Daniel +29

play them more than ~17mpg? nah

Willie resting them for the Worlds or something

Biggest surprise for me thus far in this series is how Vancouver's blueline has been given real fits by Calgary's forechecking. Really noticeable in tonight's 2nd period - Flames didn't generate much offensively over the twenty, but still kept the Canucks to 6 shots all period, and it was predominantly because they simply couldn't move up & out in transition efficiently. I did not think Vancouver's blueline would be the unit stumbling in this series through three games.

Not sure if I should be surprised that Vancouver's losing the psychological battle, but it's definitely happening. If I'm Benning and I think Bieksa and Burrows are surplus to requirements moving forward, time to cut them loose now. They simply cannot keep their heads in series like this and it's noticeable.

Gaudreau first star for me tonight, he was brilliant. Bennett, Brodie, Ferland, Jooris and Backlund all fantastic as well, much stronger game from Monahan too. Future is now for Calgary; if Treliving builds a legit 2nd d-pair behind Gio/Brodie over the summer, I think it's quite possible Calgary's a break-even possession club as early as next year. This is a really good young core.

Also, 72o hit the nail on the head. You have to ride the Sedins a lot more than that. I mean, hell, every second shift, either Wideman or Engelland is on the ice, and neither guy can keep up with that puck movement in their own zone.

Besides, it's not like Vancouver's really deep enough to stay so committed to a four-line roll. Bennett-Backlund-Colborne and Ferland-Stajan-Jones have definitely outplayed their 2nd & 3rd line counterparts through three games. Only line that hasn't really been going is the Monahan line, and if they figure it out...

If only Giordano was healthy. Sigh

Willie thinks they are though, for whatever reason

@Thats_Offside
Daniel Sedin's shifts and TOI by period:

1st: 9 shifts for 5:25
2nd: 9 shifts for 5:13
3rd: 7 shifts for 4:27
i mean everyone was cool with the rolling 4 thing during the season because they assumed it was would be a new ballgame in the playoffs, but he seems to be digging his heels in here. maybe this is just who and what he is. maybe this team is just run and coached by people with really bad ideas. WELP.

@SUNRandySportak
#Flames Michael Ferland’s mom told him not to hit the Sedins.
“She told me, 'Leave the Sedins alone.' She loves them,” he said.
Momma Ferland >>>>> Coach Willie

and the team has MUCH bigger problems than Burrows & Bieksa, but these are the same guys who think Dorsett & Sbisa are good, so lol. Burrows is still a really effective player, and i think Bieksa would look ~fine if he was playing with anyone other than lolSbisa.

Edler is supposedly playing hurt, which sucks but makes sense. that's about as bad that pairing has looked. one of Tanev's worst possession games ever i guess, and worst in over a year. Ferland charging all over him was a problem. Canucks wingers were also reduced to attempting ABC zone clears up the boards and failing over and over. the hits seem to be taking their toll, changing their play style, causing bad decisions and dumb turnovers imo.

would be pretty sad to go out like this, especially since i no longer have much hope for the future with these clowns running the show.

Bieksa, when asked if Ferland was getting under their skin: "Who suggested that? Them? I think he's pretty irrelevant so far."

Just checked hockeystats.ca and I see the Stajan line was around 35% CF at evens tonight. That just...doesn't seem right. I thought they had a real effective night based on eye test. Meh.
