It's almost like taking more penalties than the other team isn't a magic shield against future infractions.

Rangers speed leads to the other team taking a lot of penalties.

I guess Refs owe the slower badder team the same number of chances?

I guess 2+2 owes you some grammar lessons.

No doubt the rangers are a solid team, but I think the capitals will show their dominance at home.

Yes, they were very dominant in their 3-1 and 4-2 losses to the Rangers on home ice this season

Rangers are the third least penalized team in the regular season and people act like we are running hot with refs. What a joke.

so it's not running hot, it's just permanent favoritism?

Lots of regs ITT apparently don't understand that better teams will force lesser teams to take more penalties.

LOL Orpik: A Partial Look

NYR 1st goal
i still don't really know why he chased whoever into the corner
he should have stopped in front of the net, that's where he belongs

here he's more or less in the right position, but the pass still gets through for an incredible scoring chance that Holtby saves

here he's tackling some dude in the corner, allowing the Rangers to have the 3-2 advantage around the net
it's rarely good times when you start forcing the wingers to make decisions defensively, and as you can see they're both sorta paralyzed on the outside

he can't skate, allowing a mini-break

Nash gets inside and pulls him forward, the area he vacates is another mini-break

he holds tight on this outside guy for some reason, he should be over in the area to prevent the scoring chance

related LOL Orpik

it's really an amazing amount of great chances that Orpik personally allows. i assume that Vigneault is smart enough to keep attacking this if Trotz won't or can't adjust. i actually feel bad for Caps fans that this guy has 4 more years left on his contract, life after Mike Green will probably suck.

Mike green might be caps' fourth best defenseman, but he is still way better than orpik.

You're saying Carlson, Niskanen, Alzner, Green, then Orpik?

Putting it down, we have a pretty sick blue line

In the first Isle game Niskanen was many times totally lost. Could not handle the puck and outlet, lost his coverage and had no idea what was happening around him. Have not seen all the games since but have seen some other worrying stuff. Wsh is playing ten times better in own zone compared to last year, but dunno how much of that is the addition of niskanen and orpik, or just that trotz has all the five players actually giving a **** about coverage. Last year it was horrendous, so not sure if trotz should be hailed as a genious, but kudos for getting the job done. Looking forward to two very hard-fought games in wsh, playoff hockey yayeee!
