I'll be honest, I don't know about Xs and Os stuff, but I feel that ovechkin going after tavares there is ~fine and that the defenseman should have been more disciplined. So, like, if this was Corey Perry and his team didnt happen to concede, he'd get praised for leadership.

Of course it could also be that the Dman was already committed to the hit and ovechkin shouldve recognised it, or that going in the corner is always the wrong line.

Yeah Ovi should be looking to hit and peel. ie finish the hit and take the puck. Instead he faces up trying to crush Johnny, completely disregarding the puck and then he just stands there.

Wow, this series has been fun to watch. If this ends up been the isles last home game at Nassau, very happy they won.

I'm not a huge fan of hitting anyway, seems like the point of that hit is 50% "LOL **** YOU", 10% seperating him from the puck, 40% hoping that he binks an injury to tavares. Still better than the standard forecheck hit which is 90% about binking opposition injury, but still a leak.

The controller disconnect play, while hilarious, is kinda stupid because ovi's mistake is like the third most damaging in that whole sequence, he reaches the goalscorer like 20% of the time even if he goes full throttle. Ofc that line if thinking is results oriented, but loling at him is too bc if the one rag ****s up the pass or stepan (?) shanks it, no one ever remember what ovi did there.
