the chant is certainly sexist. I agree with Bettman that it isnt intended to be sexist; Jets fans dont mean to discriminate against women with the chant. But they still do.

I'd forgive the fans for their ignorance, beacause they dont know any better, but the league should know better. Wysh notes that as a PR machine it's understandable that the NHL doesnt want to make waves, but i know PR myself and

1) there's a point where flat out admitting is less damaging than having people discuss the topic at hand, and that point might not be far away

2) I don't think the fans who chanted this are gonna boycott the league if they're called out, while I imagine there are binders full of women who leave or don't consider the NHL after instances like this
