Yeah I feel like we're going to get gypped out of the run through the roster where all the players name their hometown and favourite player.

Cool for Chicago to finally win on home ice.

Guess it's the Kangz turn again next year to repeat the cycle.

And lol the east. Still garbage

Yeah The White Sox and Bears are gonna have a tough time scratching my sports fan itch because they suck so bad. Winning teams are few and far between and this Blackhawks team makes it fun to be a fan. Can't wait until next season.

I'm too much of a casual to contribute itt so mostly I just shut up and try to learn from you thread regs, but I've tried to watch every playoff game in the toews era and it's just been so fun. You always root for your hometown team but these guys are the easiest Chicago team to root for since the first Jordan team and I suppose the 85 Bears. My parents retired right at the beginning of the hawks' run and they moved away from chicago across the country and live in my city now, and my favorite family time of the year is watching all these games with my dad, who is an old hockey guy himself. Thank you BLACKHAWKS, with a hat tip to the constitutional monarchy of CANADA

btw, want to follow up the thing I just said about my dad by just giving a to excellent poster SenorMuresano: I obviously never know wtf is happening in this thread but I very much remember reading what he wrote about his dad like a month back, there was just something about those posts he made that hit home with me and I'm guessing with a bunch of ppl in SE wrt our relationships w/our own dads & families. All best.

Confirmed very happy about Kimmo Timonen. He was a very, very under-appreciated* yet elite defenseman for a number of years, which holds true even before he came to Philadelphia.

The rest of the Hawks clowns can **** off, but I'm very happy that Timonen will get the RANG he deserves. I'm just sad our front office was too incompetent to make it happen in Philadelphia.

It's no surprise that the last great Eastern team to win it was from Boston. No team has been as good in the East since

I really like hearing stories like that. Always breaks my heart to hear the opposite stories of poster's dads who die without having seen their team win with their sons (and daughters).

Wonder where Toews/Kane/Keith will finish in terms of their place among the all time greats. Starting to look like Toews could be a top 10 all time playoff points guy given his age. Would be pretty sweet for him to get to 6 cups. Half way there! Still blows my mind that guys like Trottier and Mes got to 6 post-expansion.

my casualfanfantasy for the Hawks was to win 5 in the 10 year stretch of 2010-2019. Will admit that I was initially bummed when the Bolts won the PoW because in the fantasy, the first three were Philly, Boston, and then New York, devastating the Eastern seaboard. Number 4 would be versus the Habs or poutine substitute, and then the aging core would snag number 5 against--obviously--the Red Wings. But I dropped those thoughts in like three seconds when it was clear that the Bolts were super ****ing tough and plenty up for this.

And of course Toews/Kane/Keith are all signed through 2022/2023. Keith will be 40 then, Toews 35, Kane 34. Weird to imagine Toews and Kane as two greybeards. Even weirder to imagine Toews growing a complete beard. Time will tell.

I've been quoting that grind stat irl all the time, which now stands at: in the Toews era the Hawks have been tied 2-2 in series ten times, and in that stretch they are 10-0 in game fives, and 20-1 in all games. I think factoids like that are usually lame, but man that's a good one. Oh and as long as we're here, **** Dollar Bill. For a decade my parents lived in a Bill Wirtz-owned Chicago apartment, it seemed ok but they probably have asbestos cancer.

rafiki's right about ppl who go a lifetime without shipping it, the Leafs have gone 48 years? Sucks. I'm a big Cubs fan, 106 years, it's ridic to think of the biggest cubs fan who has a birthday in like 1909 or even 1919, who totally remembers watching Babe Ruth, who was twenty years old when Mickey Mantle was freaking born, who was older than Eva Braun, but who is still waiting on the Cubs. A few years ago I tried to do back-of-the-envelope math on what are the odds that, in the history of baseball, there would have been any team going a century without shipping? And of course there were a bunch of unknowables but I remember the final answer was way higher than I thought, I think it was something like 15%? Anyway.

well the 1st team had Brian Campbell, Andrew Ladd, Dusty Buff, a not yet crappy Dave Bolland, a still useful Kris Versteeg, Troy Brouwer, Tomas Kopecky, etc and won rather easily despite .910 goaltending from Niemi, so i'll go with that one

edit: guess it's debatable, they're all pretty good teams
